The Group 51 Optima is a compact spiral-cell battery that fits where full-size batteries will not, and this Artec Industries mount keeps it clamped down through the worst terrain. It is CNC-cut from 10-gauge (.130") cold-roll steel as a single piece — strength without the weight or the crack-prone welds of a fabricated box. Self-clinching PEM nuts are pressed into the mount so the hold-down bolts thread straight into the tray, and a cutout window keeps the battery's spec label readable after installation.
Features
- One-piece design, CNC-cut and formed from 10-gauge (.130") cold-roll steel
- Sized to the Group 51 Optima so the battery sits snug with no movement
- Pressed-in self-clinching (PEM) nuts — hold-down bolts thread into the mount, no loose backing nuts
- Cutout window keeps the battery spec label visible after install
- Six 1/4" bolts with nylock nuts included to secure the battery
- Bolt the base down or weld it directly in place
This tray is cut to the Optima Group 51 case specifically — standard flat-sided Group 51 batteries do not fit, so confirm you are running the Optima before ordering. The mount ships bare and needs paint or powder coat to stay rust-free. Base fasteners are covered by the 4-bolt battery mounting kit. Running a different Optima? See the Group 25/35 mount and Group 34 mount, or browse all of Artec Industries.
Group 51 Optima Battery Mount FAQs
Does this fit any Group 51 battery?
No — it is cut to the Optima Group 51's spiral-cell case specifically. Standard flat-sided Group 51 batteries will not seat correctly in this tray. If you run a Group 25, 35, 34, or 31 Optima instead, Artec makes a matching mount for each.
What are the pressed-in PEM nuts for?
They are self-clinching threaded nuts pressed into the mount itself, so the six included 1/4" hold-down bolts thread directly into the tray. That means no loose backing nuts to hold with a second wrench — a real convenience when the mount is tucked into a tight corner of the rig.
How do I install and finish it?
Bolt the base down through its countersunk holes — Artec's 4-bolt battery mounting kit covers base hardware — or weld the mount directly in place. Either way, coat it first: the tray ships in bare cold-roll steel and needs paint or powder coat to prevent rust.
