Coilover Kits

Coilover kits for lifted and leveled trucks, nearly all from ICON Vehicle Dynamics, in 2.5 series and extended-travel builds with remote or internal reservoirs. Applications include the Toyota Tacoma, Tundra and 4Runner, Ford F-150, Ranger and Super Duty, and Chevrolet Colorado. Match the kit to your year, cab and lift range, and confirm spring rate for the weight you carry.

Guides for this category

What's in Coilover Kits

This collection is almost entirely ICON Vehicle Dynamics, with a couple of items from ICON Alloys and Artec Industries. Kits are built around the 2.5 series and extended-travel designs, with either remote or internal reservoirs, and many are sold as front coilovers for lifted or leveled trucks. Applications include the Toyota Tacoma, Tundra, 4Runner, FJ Cruiser and Sequoia, Ford F-150, Bronco and Super Duty, Ram 1500, and Chevrolet Colorado. Related hardware, bump stop spacer kits and rebuild kits sit alongside the full coilovers.

How to choose

A coilover swaps the shock and spring as one tuned assembly, so the choice comes down to your vehicle and how you use it. Remote reservoir kits offer more oil capacity for sustained rough use, while internal reservoir kits are simpler and fit a wider range of daily-driven setups.

  • Match year, drivetrain (2WD or 4WD) and cab or trim where the title says so.
  • Pick the lift range or ride height you want, and check what spring rate is installed for the weight you carry.
  • Check whether the kit includes upper mounts, hardware or bump stop spacers, or needs them separately.
  • Plan alignment after installation and think about whether the rear needs matching shocks.

For the rear and the rest of the system, see shock absorbers, control arms and bump stops.

Coilover Kits FAQs

What's the difference between a coilover and a regular shock?

A coilover combines the shock absorber and coil spring in one unit, and usually lets you adjust ride height. A regular shock only damps and leaves the stock spring in place. Coilovers are a bigger change, but they can add travel and control for lifted trucks.

Do I need remote reservoir or internal reservoir coilovers?

Remote reservoirs hold more oil and shed heat better, which helps with long stretches of rough road or hard use. Internal reservoir kits are simpler and often suit daily driving and lighter off-road use. How you use the truck decides it, and either type may be listed for your vehicle.

Will a front coilover kit fit my 4WD truck?

Fitment depends on year, drivetrain and sometimes cab or trim, and kits for 2WD and 4WD usually differ. Read the title for the year range and drivetrain. If you cannot find an exact match, call (920) 249-7744.

Do I need to replace the rear shocks too?

It is usually a good idea to match the rear to the front, especially after a lift or level, so the truck rides evenly and the damping balance stays correct. Check the shocks collection for options listed for your vehicle.

Do coilovers require an alignment?

Yes. Changing ride height or replacing front suspension components changes alignment angles, so have it aligned after installation. It is also worth rechecking hardware after the first drive.
