Do I need longer bump stops after a lift?
Yes β a lift changes your suspension's travel, so bump-stop height must be reset to match. Too-tall stops cut travel and ride harsh; too-short stops let the suspension bottom hard and damage shocks and arms. Many lift kits include correct stops, but faster or heavily loaded trucks often want progressive or hydraulic upgrades. Measure your compressed travel and set the stop to contact just before the limit.
What's the difference between foam, hydraulic, and rubber bump stops?
Rubber stops are cheap and abrupt; progressive foam ramps up more gradually; hydraulic bump stops actively damp the last few inches of travel like a small shock. Rubber suits mild street and load duty. Foam smooths general off-road hits. Hydraulic stops are for high-speed desert running where you repeatedly use full travel. Match the stop to your terrain and speed.
Can bump stops improve ride quality?
Yes β progressive bump stops soften the harsh jolt of bottoming out by ramping up resistance instead of hitting a hard limit.
