Refrigeration & Coolers FAQs
What size fridge do I need for overlanding?
It depends on how many people and how many days you travel. Measure your cargo area first, then pick a capacity that fits with room for airflow and a slide. National Luna lists several capacities.
How do I power a 12V fridge in my truck?
Most run from a 12V outlet, but for longer trips a dual battery or power pack avoids draining your starting battery. Check the fridge's power connection and cord. Wiring runs matter, so keep them short and fused.
Do I need a fridge slide?
It is optional. A slide lets you pull the fridge out so you can reach it from the tailgate. Match the slide to the fridge model and your cargo floor.
Is a fridge better than a cooler?
A fridge holds temperature without ice and suits multi-day trips if you have power. A cooler needs ice but no electricity, which works for shorter trips. Many people carry both.
