Add-a-leaf or a full replacement leaf pack?
An add-a-leaf is the budget path — it inserts one leaf to restore sag and add a little lift, but it stiffens the ride and doesn't fix a tired pack. A full replacement pack rides better, carries more predictably, and is the right call if your springs are flat or you regularly run loaded. For a work or overland truck, buy the full pack.
Will new leaf springs give me a lift?
They can, but height is a byproduct, not the goal. Leaf packs are rated for a load and a ride height together; a heavier pack that lifts a bare truck two inches may sit near stock once you add a bumper, drawers, and gear. Spec the spring to your built, loaded weight so it settles at the height you actually want.
Do leaf springs improve articulation off-road?
Longer, more supple packs flex better, but leaf springs trade some articulation for load capacity by design. Softer packs and shackle-flip or reverse-eye setups gain travel; stiff overload packs sacrifice it for payload. Decide whether the truck's job is crawling or carrying weight, because the ideal leaf pack for each pulls in opposite directions.
How do I stop axle wrap with lifted leaf springs?
Axle wrap comes from the pack twisting under torque, and the fixes are a stiffer pack, a traction bar, or anti-wrap add-a-leaves. Softer, taller lifts are more prone to it, especially on diesel and V8 trucks. If you feel hop under hard acceleration or braking, address wrap before it damages driveline parts — it also chews up ride quality.
