Exhaust spacers solve a specific problem: when a lift changes the relationship between your body and frame, factory exhaust hangers can pull the pipe into a crossmember, driveshaft, or floor. These spacers reposition the exhaust to restore clearance and stop the rattles and heat-soak that come from metal-on-metal contact. They're a small, cheap part of the exhaust systems catalog, but skipping them after a lift is how you crack a weld or melt a wire loom.

Do I need exhaust spacers after installing a lift kit?
Sometimes — it depends on how much the lift changes body-to-frame spacing. Body lifts and larger suspension lifts most often create exhaust contact, because the body rises while the exhaust stays mounted to the drivetrain. If you hear a new rattle or see scorch marks where the pipe touches a crossmember or the floor, a spacer is the fix. Small levels rarely need them.
What do exhaust spacers actually do?
They add a measured gap at the exhaust hanger to reposition the pipe away from a contact point. That restores clearance to the driveshaft, crossmember, or body, quiets rattles, and prevents heat from soaking into wiring, fuel lines, or the floor. They do not change performance or sound; they only correct fitment created by a lift or drivetrain change.
Are exhaust spacers vehicle-specific?
Usually yes — fitment depends on your exhaust routing and hanger design, so filter by year, make, and model. A spacer that corrects clearance on one platform won't necessarily match another's hanger geometry.
