JK 1 Ton Sterling 60 Tooth Tone Ring for Jeep Wrangler

$50.59

This 60-tooth tone ring puts a readable wheel-speed target back on the axle after a Jeep Wrangler JK takes on a Ford Sterling rear from a Super Duty. The JK's ABS calculates wheel speed by counting tooth pulses, and a bare Sterling gives the factory sensor nothing to count — hence the codes and limp mode every one-ton swap owner has met. Mounted on the Sterling hub, this CNC machined, zinc plated steel ring provides the 60-tooth signal that Jeeps with 60-tooth factory rings expect. It's sold individually for builders who already have the sensor mounting handled.

Features

  • 60-tooth reluctor ring for a Ford Sterling rear axle under a JK
  • Works with the JK's factory wheel-speed sensor — no sensor swap needed
  • Restores ABS, traction control, and stability control readings after the swap
  • CNC machined steel engineered using 3D scan files
  • Zinc plated for corrosion resistance and clean sensor feedback
  • Sold individually for builds that already have the sensor mount
  • Made in the USA

Verify your JK uses 60-tooth ABS rings by counting the teeth on the original front tone ring — the 52-tooth Sterling ring covers the other configuration. To position the sensor itself, add the 2005+ Sterling ABS mounting plates, or get the ring, mount, and hardware together in the complete 2005+ Sterling ABS kit. Artec notes a tuner with gear-ratio and tire-size adjustment may still be needed to finish the recalibration.

JK 1 Ton Sterling 60 Tooth Tone Ring for Jeep Wrangler FAQs

What does a tone ring actually do?

The ABS sensor sits over the ring and counts its teeth as the axle turns, which is how the computer measures wheel speed. After a Sterling swap that signal is gone until a ring is installed, so the JK sets ABS and traction codes and can drop into limp mode. This ring restores the 60-tooth signal Jeeps with 60-tooth factory rings expect.

Do I need the mounting plates or the full kit too?

If your build already positions the factory sensor over the ring, this standalone ring is all you need. Otherwise pair it with Artec's Sterling ABS mounting plates, or buy the complete Sterling ABS kit that bundles the ring and sensor mount together. The tooth count must match your JK's factory rings either way.

Will my speedometer be perfect after installing it?

The ring restores the wheel-speed signal, but Artec notes a tuner with gear-ratio and tire-size adjustment may still be required to finish recalibrating after a swap, and the 60-tooth setup can show a small speedometer variance of around 1-3%. That residual difference is a tuner-side correction, not a fault in the ring.
