The Artec JK Inner C Gussets reinforce the hardest-worked joint on a lifted JK's front axle — the inner C, where steering and ball-joint loads feed into the axle tube. On 2007-2018 Jeep Wrangler JK and JKU front Dana 30 and Dana 44 axles, big tires and high-traction wheeling flex this junction until it cracks. These 1/4" steel gussets wrap the factory casting and tie it into the tube, stiffening the knuckle area dramatically for a modest price. They are a smart add for any JK running 35s or larger, and a near-mandatory one for lockers and heavy bumpers.
Features
- 1/4" steel, CNC laser cut and formed to hug the factory inner C
- Contoured wrap maximizes weld contact between the C and the axle tube
- Fits both Dana 30 and Dana 44 front axles under the JK and JKU
- Set includes universal upper gussets plus dedicated driver- and passenger-side lower pieces
- Fights the flex and cracking that ball joints and knuckles transmit into the housing
- Made in the USA
These fit factory JK Dana 30 and 44 housings; aftermarket housings such as the Ultimate Dana 44 need modification, so check yours first. This is a weld-on job — Artec recommends heating the cast Cs to roughly 300-400 degrees before welding, and the work is easiest with the axle stripped. Pair them with the JK Front Axle Truss for a housing braced from the top as well, browse the rest of our axle reinforcements, or see everything for your Jeep Wrangler.
Inner C Gussets for Jeep Wrangler JK 2007-2018 FAQs
Will these fit my JK's front axle?
They fit the factory front Dana 30 and Dana 44 axles under every 2007-2018 Jeep Wrangler JK and JKU. Aftermarket housings such as the Ultimate Dana 44 are shaped differently and need modification, so confirm you have a factory housing before ordering.
How hard is the install?
This is a weld-on job for a competent MIG or TIG welder, not a bolt-on afternoon project. The gussets weld to both the cast inner C and the axle tube, and Artec recommends preheating the castings to roughly 300-400 degrees before welding. Most builders do the work with the axle stripped or out of the Jeep, then paint the bare steel afterward.
Do I need these if I'm already adding a truss?
They solve different problems, so the two work best together. A truss braces the tubes and center section from above, while these gussets reinforce the inner C where steering and ball-joint loads concentrate. On a big-tire JK the C can flex and crack even with a trussed housing — gusseting it closes that gap.
