JT/JL to TJ Rear Axle Swap Brackets for Jeep Wrangler TJ 1997-2006

$299.99

The Artec Industries JT/JL to TJ Rear Swap is a weld-on bracket set that puts a modern Dana M220 rear axle from a Jeep Wrangler JL or Gladiator JT under a Wrangler TJ or LJ. The Rubicon-grade M220 is wider and far stronger than the TJ's stock Dana 35 or 44, but its factory brackets are in all the wrong places — this kit welds to the M220 housing and rebuilds the TJ's rear control-arm, coil, and shock mounting points at the correct locations. The result is a junkyard-sourced axle that drops into your factory-style suspension with proper geometry, pinion angle, and clearance. Heavy-duty steel, 3D-engineered from Dana Corp/SPICER and OEM axle data, and made in the USA.

Features

  • Adapts a JL/JT Dana M220 rear axle to Jeep TJ/LJ suspension geometry
  • Re-creates the rear lower control arm, upper link, coil, and shock mounts at TJ locations
  • Heavy-duty steel brackets built for one-piece weld-on strength
  • 3D-engineered from Dana Corp/SPICER and OEM data for correct pinion angle and clearance
  • Lets you run a stronger, wider Rubicon-grade rear axle without hand-locating brackets
  • Made in the USA

Works with the Dana M220 rear axle from the Wrangler JL (2018+) and Gladiator JT (2020+) going into a TJ (1997-2006) or LJ (2004-2006); brackets weld to the axle tubes, so accurate placement and a capable welder are required, and the bare steel needs paint after install. Match the front of the build with the JL/JT to TJ APEX front swap brackets and the TJ front frame coil buckets on the frame side. More options live in our complete axle sets collection.

JT/JL to TJ Rear Axle Swap Brackets for Jeep Wrangler TJ 1997-2006 FAQs

Which axle does this kit fit, and which Jeep does it go into?

The brackets are built for the Dana M220 rear axle found under the Jeep Wrangler JL (2018+) and Gladiator JT (2020+). They relocate that axle's mounting points so it fits a Wrangler TJ (1997-2006) or Unlimited LJ (2004-2006) with factory-style rear suspension geometry.

Is welding required to install it?

Yes. The brackets weld directly to the M220 axle tubes, so accurate placement and a capable welder are essential. Measure and mock up the axle under the Jeep before final welding, and paint the bare steel when the fabrication is done.

Should I swap the front axle at the same time?

Most builders do — running a matched JL/JT axle set front and rear keeps track width and gearing consistent. Artec's JL/JT to TJ APEX front swap brackets handle the M210 front axle, and frame-side coil buckets are available if you are running a wider one-ton front housing.
