The Artec Industries 1-Ton APEX Front 9-Inch Swap Kit is the bracket set that turns a bare Spidertrax 9" front housing into a swap-ready axle for a Jeep Wrangler JK, Wrangler JL, or Gladiator JT. Co-developed with Ultra4 racer Erik Miller of Miller Motorsports and modeled from Spidertrax and Jeep 3D data, it locates the link, coil, and steering geometry for you — the high-strength aftermarket housing gets race-proven brackets instead of one-off fabrication. At roughly 32 lbs of laser-cut steel, the whole package comes in significantly lighter than adapting a comparable junkyard one-ton housing.

What axle housing is this kit designed around?

The Spidertrax 9" front axle housing. The brackets and APEX truss are modeled from Spidertrax and Jeep 3D data, so they locate the link, coil, and steering geometry correctly for a Jeep Wrangler JK (2007-2018), Wrangler JL (2018+), or Gladiator JT (2020+). The housing itself is not included.

Why choose a 9-inch front over a junkyard Dana 60?

Weight and strength. A Spidertrax 9" housing with this roughly 32 lb bracket kit comes in significantly lighter than a trussed one-ton takeout while using stronger aftermarket components — the same recipe used in Ultra4 racing, where this kit was co-developed with Erik Miller. If you would rather run a Dana 60, Artec offers APEX front swap kits for those housings too.

Is welding required, and what are the variant options?

Yes — this is a weld-on kit for a competent fabricator, though the CNC-bent truss drops on ready to weld with roughly 70% less weld length than older designs. The variants set your upper-link style: an adjustable truss upper link mount for a 3-link, RockJock Johnny Joints in the factory location, or Daystar bushings in the factory location.
