Artec Hardcore Diff Cover for Ford 8.8

$168.99

The Artec Hardcore Diff Cover for the Ford 8.8 swaps the thin stamped-steel factory cover for a thick-wall nodular-iron casting that takes direct rock hits without folding. It fits both standard and reverse-rotation 8.8 housings, so it works whether the axle is still under an Explorer or Ranger or has been swapped under a Jeep. A dented factory cover can leak or push into the ring gear on the trail; this casting keeps the ring-and-pinion, carrier, and locker sealed and protected. It is a straightforward bolt-on upgrade for anyone building an 8.8 for hard use.

Features

  • Cast from high-strength nodular iron with thick walls for real impact resistance
  • Fits standard and reverse-rotation Ford 8.8 differentials
  • Powder-coat finish over the casting fights corrosion
  • Magnetic drain and fill plugs trap metal shavings and simplify gear-oil service
  • High-strength steel mounting fasteners included
  • Smooth, rounded profile slides over obstacles instead of catching
  • Made in the USA

Confirm your axle is a Ford 8.8 and note its rotation before ordering; the cover seals with RTV or a reusable gasket (not included), torqued in a star pattern. Building the 8.8 further? Add the Artec 8.8 Modular Truss to stiffen the housing, browse the matching Hardcore cover for Dana 44 for the other axle, and see all diff covers or the full Artec Industries lineup.

Artec Hardcore Diff Cover for Ford 8.8 FAQs

Does this cover fit both standard and reverse-rotation Ford 8.8 axles?

Yes. The Hardcore cover is designed to bolt to the Ford 8.8 housing in both standard and reverse-rotation configurations. That means it works on factory Ford applications like the Explorer and Ranger as well as 8.8 axles swapped under Jeeps and other rigs.

How does it install and seal?

It is a bolt-on job with no welding. Drain the fluid, clean the mating surface, seal with RTV or a reusable gasket — neither is included — and torque the supplied high-strength fasteners evenly in a star pattern before refilling through the fill plug.

What do the magnetic plugs do?

Both the drain and fill plugs are magnetic, so they capture fine metal particles suspended in the gear oil between services. Checking what the magnets collect at each fluid change is an easy way to monitor ring-and-pinion health on a hard-used axle.
