The Artec Industries JK HD Crossmember replaces the flimsy stamped transmission crossmember under a Jeep Wrangler JK with formed 1/4" steel that takes rock hits without folding. The factory piece is one of the lowest, softest points under a JK; this one is designed from factory CAD data to bolt into the same location while adding real rigidity and protection to the middle of the frame. Which version fits my JK?
Order by model year: the 2007-2011 version fits early JKs and the 2012-2018 version fits later ones, matching Jeep's mid-run crossmember change. Both fit two-door JK and four-door JKU bodies.
Is any welding required?
No. The crossmember ships pre-welded and bolts into the factory location using 3/8" captive nuts and bolts. The pressed-in nuts also make it a one-tool removal whenever you need access for transmission work.
How is this different from the version with link mounts?
This is the standard crossmember — strength and underbody protection in the stock location. The version with link mounts adds integrated rear suspension link anchors for long-arm and custom link builds; if you are not adding links, this standard unit is the right pick.
