JL Fender Chop OEM Replacement Hardware for Jeep Wrangler JL 2018+
Chop the lower half off a Jeep Wrangler JL fender flare and the factory clip-style fasteners are no longer up to the job — the clips flex, rattle, and eventually let the flare walk on rough trail. This kit replaces them with rivnut-style hardware that mounts the flare solidly through drilled holes, giving a much stiffer attachment than the OEM clips. One kit covers one end of the Jeep, front pair or rear pair, and it even includes the rivnut tool to set the fasteners. It is the cheap-insurance finishing piece for any JL fender chop.
Features
- Replaces the factory clip-based flare hardware with a stiffer bolted attachment
- Purpose-made for the fender-chop mod that splits the upper and lower flare halves
- Rivnut tool included, so no special tooling to hunt down
- One kit covers either the front pair or the rear pair of fenders
- Keeps rigid flares mounted securely and rattle-free off-road
- Made in the USA
Fits the Jeep Wrangler JL, 2018 and up. Drilling is required to set the new hardware, and a full front-and-rear chop takes two kits. Doing the front chop on Rubicon flares? Pair this with the Front Fender Chop Kit Brackets (Rubicon), and finish the wheel wells with the JL/JT Front Inner Fenders and JL Rear Inner Fenders. More in fenders and flares.
JL Fender Chop OEM Replacement Hardware for Jeep Wrangler JL 2018+ FAQs
How many kits do I need for the whole Jeep?
Two. Each kit covers one end of the Jeep — either the front pair or the rear pair of fenders — so a complete front-and-rear fender chop takes two kits. If you are only chopping the fronts, one kit does it.
What is a fender chop, and why do I need new hardware?
The fender chop is a common JL trim mod that separates the lower portion of each flare from the upper half for tire clearance and a cleaner look. After the cut, the factory clip-based fasteners no longer hold the flare rigidly, so this kit reattaches it through drilled holes for a stiffer, rattle-free mount.
Do I need special tools to install it?
Just a drill and basic hand tools. The kit installs rivnut-style fasteners through drilled holes, and the rivnut tool to set them is included in the box, so there is nothing extra to buy. Follow the instructions for hole locations.
