GapShield™ Tailgate Gap Cover

$45.95

Anyone who hauls mulch, dirt, gravel, or yard debris knows where it ends up: in the gap between the truck bed and the tailgate, and then all over the driveway. The GapShield™ from EcoOlogical is an engineered profile extrusion of durable, flexible synthetic elastomer — the same class of material proven in automotive OEM applications — that bridges that gap so loose material stays in the bed and small tools stop disappearing into the hinge. This listing is the 6.5" x 60" truck size, and it installs with two strips of 3M high-strength double-sided foam tape, no drilling required.

Features

  • Bridges the bed-to-tailgate gap so dirt, mulch, gravel, and seed stay in the bed
  • Flexible elastomer flexes with the tailgate — the gate opens and closes normally
  • Peel-and-stick install with two 3M high-strength foam tape strips; adhesion promoter wipe included
  • 60" length covers most full-size tailgate openings and cuts shorter for smaller beds
  • Free end tucks into the gap when not hauling, sealing out road dust and fine cargo
  • Works over painted beds, spray-on liners, and plastic bedliners (tuck under the lip on corrugated liners)
  • Tested from -30°C to 80°C, so it keeps working through summer hauls and winter cold

Because it trims to length and sticks to the bed itself, the GapShield™ is fitment-by-tape-measure: it suits most Ford, Chevy/GMC, Ram, Toyota, and Nissan pickups — just confirm your tailgate opening is 60" or less and you have a flat bonding surface ahead of the gap. Pair it with the AeroBox™ Rear-Mount Truck Bed Cargo Box for lockable storage at the tailgate, and see the rest of the EcoOlogical lineup and our exterior storage collection.

GapShield™ Tailgate Gap Cover FAQs

Will the GapShield™ fit my truck?

It fits by measurement rather than by model. This 6.5" x 60" size covers most full-size pickup tailgate openings — Ford, Chevy/GMC, Ram, Toyota, and Nissan — and the elastomer can be cut shorter for smaller openings. Measure your tailgate opening and confirm you have a flat bonding surface in the bed just ahead of the gap before ordering.

How hard is the install, and does it work over a bedliner?

It's on the easy side for an aftermarket part: clean the surface, use the included adhesion promoter wipe, and press the two 3M high-strength tape strips into place — no drilling. The tape bonds strongly on first contact, so follow the instructions and position carefully. It works over painted beds, spray-on liners, and plastic bedliners; on corrugated plastic liners with little flat area, install it under the liner's lip for a more secure bond.

Will my tailgate still open and close normally?

Yes. The GapShield™ is a flexible elastomer that bends as the tailgate swings, so normal operation isn't affected. When you're not hauling loose material, tuck the free end into the gap to keep it out of the way — tucked in, it also seals against road dust and keeps fine cargo like seed from sifting through. It's tested from -30°C to 80°C, though it stiffens slightly in extreme cold.
