These wrap-around skids reinforce the rear axle lower control arm brackets on the Jeep Wrangler JL and JLU (2018 and up) — a spot that takes direct rock hits every time the rear axle drags over a ledge. Formed from 1/4" boxed steel plate, they shield the control arm joints from impact and secure to the axle better than the thin OEM brackets, so they will not peel off on the trail the way a battered factory stamping can. They also give solid mounting for the hardware the factory brackets carry.
Features
- Precision CNC cut and bent from 1/4" steel boxed plate
- Wrap-around design shields both OEM and aftermarket control arm joints
- Secures to the axle more strongly than the factory bracket, so it stays put
- Reinforces the bracket without interfering with joint movement or articulation
- Protects joints from direct impact, reducing premature wear
- Sold as a pair with mounting hardware for both rear brackets
Fits the rear axle of the Jeep Wrangler JL and JLU (2018-present) and clears common aftermarket lower control arm joints. If you would rather have a no-weld cover that reuses factory bolts, see the Rear Axle LCA Bolt-On Skids, and protect the front of the Jeep with the matching Front LCA Skids. Rear LCA Skids for Jeep Wrangler JL 2018+ FAQs
Will these clear aftermarket control arm joints?
Yes. The wrap-around design is built to protect both OEM and aftermarket lower control arm joints, and it is shaped so it does not interfere with joint movement or suspension articulation. Sold as a pair, the skids cover both rear brackets.
How do these attach compared to the factory bracket?
They secure to the axle more substantially than the thin OEM stamping, which is exactly why they resist being ripped off on rocks. Expect a more involved install than the bolt-on version — if you want a purely bolt-on option using factory hardware, choose the Rear Axle LCA Bolt-On Skids instead.
Do these come painted?
Plan on finishing them during installation. Like most Artec steel armor, treat any bare or ground surfaces with self-etching primer and paint after install so the 1/4" plate stays rust-free. Once coated, the boxed steel will outlast the factory brackets many times over.
