The rear lower control arm and shock brackets on a Jeep Wrangler JL hang below the axle tube and get hammered flat on rocky trails. These Artec bolt-on skids cap the factory brackets with 3/16" boxed steel plate, adding impact resistance and reinforcement without any cutting, trimming, or welding — they slip over the OEM brackets and reuse the factory hardware. For JL and JLU owners who wheel hard but want to keep the install simple, this is the fastest way to stop worrying about a crushed bracket.

Do I need to weld or trim anything to install these?
No. The skids fit over the OEM lower control arm brackets with no trimming and bolt on using the factory hardware. It is a straightforward driveway install with basic hand tools.
What exactly do these skids protect?
They wrap the rear axle lower control arm brackets and the shock brackets in 3/16" boxed steel, reinforcing the factory stampings and taking the impact when the axle drops onto a rock. Sold as a pair, they cover both the driver and passenger sides.
How are these different from the JL Rear LCA Skids?
These bolt over the OEM bracket in 3/16" steel using factory hardware — no welding, powder coated and ready to run. The JL Rear LCA Skids are a heavier 1/4" wrap-around reinforcement that ties to the axle itself. Pick the bolt-ons for easy install, the wrap-arounds for maximum reinforcement.
