Big Days Chase Rack System: Builds, Mounts and Add-Ons
The Big Days Chase Rack System is a modular rack that spans your truck bed and carries dirt bikes, mountain bikes, skis and gear above the floor. This guide explains the Base Rack and its T-track mounts, lays out every build we carry, and covers the add-ons.
Short answer: The Big Days Chase Rack System is one Base Rack plus mounts. The rack clamps across beds 4'10" to 8' long, is rated by Big Days for up to 900 lb, and has T-track cross bars that accept moto, bike, ski, light and cargo mounts. Big Days sells it in Starter, Essential, Elite and Pro builds for motos, bikes, mixed loads and off-road duty, and every build can be reconfigured later.
What the Chase Rack System is
Big Days is a rider-founded company in Orem, Utah, and the Chase Rack System is its core product. It is a platform: the Base Rack goes on the truck once, and what it carries depends on the mounts you slide into it. Our truck bed storage guide covers using the bed space underneath.
The Base Rack specs, per Big Days:
- Capacity. Rated for up to 900 lb; the rack itself weighs 70 lb.
- Materials. 3/16" A36 steel risers, 6560 T6 alloy cross bars and 1/4" 5052 alloy mounts.
- Cross bars. A 61" trimmable upper bar and a 52" lower bar.
- Gear Cave. About 40 cu ft of usable bed space stays open under the rack.
- Install. Clamp-on with no drilling required; about an hour of beginner-level first-time assembly.
- Tonneau covers. Compatible, with rules that vary by cover and mounting kits available.
- Warranty. 3-year limited.
Fitment runs by bed size: 4'10" to 8' long with 40"–64" of inside width. Our Big Days chase rack fitment guide covers the trucks that fit, the exceptions and the mounting kits in detail.
The T-track: how mounts attach
The cross bars carry a 10-series T-track channel. Slide-in T-nuts drop into the channel, slide to wherever the mount needs to be, and lock in place when the bolts are tightened. Big Days uses one-, two- and three-hole nuts to match each mount's bolt pattern, and sells them as 1 Hole, 2 Hole and 3 Hole T-Nut Kits for spares.
Because every mount uses the same track, you can swap bike, moto and ski mounts as the season changes. The main mounts:
- Motorcycle/eMoto Mount. A folding mount that carries one dirt bike or eMoto upright. Steel and aluminum, with two 2-hole tie-down points included. Big Days says one to three bikes fit in almost any bed with the tailgate up.
- Bike/eBike Mount. A single-bike tray for mountain bikes, eBikes and Surrons (Big Days does not recommend it for Surron off-road use). It fits 20"–29" tires up to 4" wide and includes a pedal strap, front-wheel strap and T-track hardware. Combine mounts for up to six bikes.
- Ski/Snowboard Mount (Set of 2). Holds two sets of skis or two snowboards in rubber straps. Big Days says up to three mounts fit on one rack, for six sets.
- Tie Down Point Kit. A 2-hole anchor that goes anywhere on the track.
- Ladder/Lumber Mount. Two steel L-brackets that work as bookends for ladders, lumber, coolers and boxes.
- Storage Case/Cooler Mount. Two L-shaped brackets that use the lower bar to hold storage boxes and coolers in the bed.
How the build tiers work
Each build name has a tier and a load, such as Essential Build // 3 Moto. Going by what each listing includes:
- Starter. The Base Rack with mounts for one job, such as one moto or four or five bikes.
- Essential. Adds the parts that make a moto load work, such as the In-Bed Moto Ramp and offset adapters.
- Elite. Adds the Headache Rack Pro on most configurations.
- Pro. Adds lighting and gear, such as a Heretic light bar, fuel and water mounts or a storable bike lock.
The tiers aren't perfectly uniform, so check the table below.

Moto builds
The moto builds scale from one bike to three. Three-bike builds include offset adapters so the handlebars clear each other, and short beds have their own version. The Essential Build // 3 Moto and Elite Build // 2 Moto 2 Bike listings give 125–850cc as the motorcycle range. Our guide on how to haul dirt bikes in a truck bed covers loading, short beds and strapping.
Bike and shuttle builds
The bike builds use drop brackets and a lower "Bike Stability" bar to keep loaded bikes steady. The five-bike Pro Build is sized for mid-size trucks and the six-bike Pro Build for full-size trucks.
Off-road and utility builds
The Off-road builds skip the bike mounts and set the rack up as a support rig: Headache Rack for rigidity and cab protection, a Hi-Lift Jack Mount, and on the Pro version, fuel, water and lighting. Big Days notes the Off-road builds still accept moto, bike, ski and light bar mounts later.
Add-ons and accessories
The details below are from the Big Days listings.
| Add-on | What it does | Key details from Big Days |

Colors and finish
The Base Rack and mounts come in a textured black powder finish. Big Days sells Touch-Up Paint in Textured Black matched to that powder for chips and scuffs.
The badges and handles are where you can add color. The Badge & Handle Color Option comes in seven choices: Black, White, Gray, Silver, Brown, Red and Big Days Green. It is sold on its own, so you can order it with a new build or for a rack you already run.
Choosing a build
- Start with the load. Count the motos, bikes or skis you haul on a typical trip, then pick the build that matches. You can add mounts later.
- Check the bed. Short beds hauling three motos need the 4'10"–5'4" build. Mid-size and full-size trucks have their own five- and six-bike Pro builds.
- Decide on the Headache Rack. If anything can slide forward under braking, it protects the back window and adds a MOLLE panel.
- Think about loading. Riding alone? Get a build with the In-Bed Moto Ramp.

Frequently asked questions
What is the Big Days Chase Rack System?
It is a modular truck bed rack from Big Days, a rider-founded company in Orem, Utah. A Base Rack clamps across the bed, and moto, bike, ski, light and utility mounts slide into the T-track on its cross bars, so one rack can carry dirt bikes, mountain bikes, skis or work gear.
How much weight can a Big Days chase rack hold?
Big Days rates the Base Rack for up to 900 lb. The rack itself weighs 70 lb, and the In-Bed Moto Ramp is rated to 300 lb.
What is the difference between Starter, Essential, Elite and Pro builds?
They are pre-configured bundles. Starter builds are the Base Rack with mounts, Essential builds add loading and fitment parts such as the In-Bed Moto Ramp and offset adapters, Elite builds add the Headache Rack on most configurations, and Pro builds add lighting and gear such as a light bar, fuel and water mounts or a bike lock. Check each listing for exactly what is included.
Can I add mounts to a Big Days rack later?
Yes. Every mount slides into the rack's T-track, so you can add a second moto mount, more bike mounts, ski mounts or accessories later instead of buying a new rack.
Does Big Days make a ski rack for the chase rack?
Yes. The Ski/Snowboard Mount holds two sets of skis or two snowboards per mount, and Big Days says you can run up to three mounts on one rack for six sets.
What colors does the Big Days chase rack come in?
The rack and mounts come in a textured black powder finish, which Big Days' touch-up paint is matched to. The Badge & Handle Color Option lets you choose Black, White, Gray, Silver, Brown, Red or Big Days Green for the badges and handles.
What warranty comes with a Big Days chase rack?
Big Days lists a 3-year limited warranty on the system. See our vendor warranty policies page for how claims work.
