Big Days fits its Chase Rack System by bed size, not by year, make or model, so the answer to "will it fit my truck" comes from a tape measure. This guide covers the two measurements that matter, the trucks Big Days lists and the ones it rules out, deck rail beds, clamp-on versus bolt-on installs, tonneau covers, and what the listings do and don't say about drawers and bed boxes.

Short answer: A Big Days chase rack fits trucks with a bed 4'10" to 8' long and 40"–64" of inside width, which covers most mid-size and full-size pickups, including the Tacoma, Tundra, F-150 through F-450, Silverado, Sierra, RAM, Ranger, Colorado, Canyon, Frontier, Titan, Hilux and Gladiator. Big Days lists RamBox-equipped RAMs, the Honda Ridgeline, the Rivian R1T and the Tesla Cybertruck as not compatible.

How Big Days sizes fitment: two measurements

The Chase Rack System Base Rack adjusts to the bed it sits in. Big Days lists it for beds that meet both of these:

  • Bed length: 4'10" to 8'. Measure along the bed floor from the front wall of the bed to the inside of the closed tailgate.
  • Inside width: 40" to 64". Big Days describes this as the width between the inside rails, so measure across the bed at the top of the bed rails, inside edge to inside edge.

If both numbers fall inside those ranges, the Base Rack fits. The upper bar is 61" and trimmable, and the lower bar is 52". On the Starter Build // 5 Bike, Big Days notes the upper cross bar can be trimmed by request.

Measure before you order, even if your truck is on the list below. Bed options, aftermarket bed rails and anything already bolted to the rails can change what the clamps have to grab.

Trucks that fit and trucks that don't

Big Days names specific trucks that qualify and specific ones that don't. Here is how those line up, with the right clamp hardware where the listings call it out.

The not-compatible list comes from the Big Days build listings. The Ford Maverick note is specific to the Motorcycle/eMoto Mount; the Big Days listings don't address the Base Rack on the Maverick, so call us before ordering one for that truck.

Mid-size and full-size versions of some builds

Most builds share the same 4'10"–8' range. A few are sized for a truck class or a bed length:

Deck rail beds

Some beds have a factory deck rail: an accessory track channel along the top of the bed rail. Big Days says this is common on Toyota and Nissan trucks, and those beds need different clamp hardware than a standard bed lip.

The Small Parts – Deck Rail Clamp Kit anchors the Chase Rack System to deck-rail beds so the rack sits aligned and fully supported. If your bed rail has that factory channel, order the kit with your rack. Standard-lip beds run the Standard Clamp Kit.

Clamp-on vs bolt-on installs

Big Days lists the Base Rack as a clamp-on install with no drilling required. First-time assembly is listed as beginner-level and about an hour. After that, the starter builds list roughly five minutes to put the rack on or take it off. If you want the rack to stay put permanently, or your tonneau cover changes the picture, there are other mounting kits.

Mounting kit How it mounts Drilling What Big Days lists
Standard Clamp Kit Clamps to the bed side rails None About five minutes with a 13mm deep socket and 4mm Allen wrench; listed for Ford, Chevrolet, Ram/Dodge, Nissan and Jeep beds; removable
Deck Rail Clamp Kit Clamps to factory deck rails Not stated For deck-rail beds, common on Toyota and Nissan
Bolt On Clamp Kit Bolts through the bed side rails Four 3/8" holes 10–15 minute install after drilling; Big Days calls it its most secure, permanent method
Tonneau Cover T-Track Mounting Kit Slides into the cover's accessory T-track None For covers with an integrated accessory T-track
Tonneau Cover NON T-TRACK Bolt On Kit Bolts to the truck bed Required Four 2" carriage bolts, four nylon lock nuts, four washers

Pick clamp-on if you move the rack between trucks or take it off for the season. Pick bolt-on if the rack lives on one truck and you would rather trade quick removal for maximum hold.

Tonneau cover compatibility

Big Days lists the Base Rack as tonneau-cover compatible, with the note that rules vary by cover. The listings break it down like this:

  • Folding and retractable covers. Work with the system when the cover leaves at least 2" of exposed bed rail for the clamps.
  • Covers with an accessory T-track. Use the Tonneau Cover T-Track Mounting Kit. The rack's mounts slide into the cover's track with no drilling into the bed or the cover, and the cover still opens and closes with the rack installed. Big Days lists the RetraxPRO XR, RetraxONE XR, Roll-N-Lock E-Series and other covers with an accessory T-track.
  • Soft covers and covers without a T-track. Big Days points these to the Non T-Track Bolt On Kit, because clamp hardware conflicts with a soft cover's rail system. This install requires drilling holes into the bed, and Big Days notes the cover still needs 2" or more of exposed bed rail.

If you aren't sure which group your cover falls in, look for a slotted accessory channel along the cover rails and measure how much bare bed rail is left showing.

Tailgates, headache racks and the bed underneath

Closing the tailgate

On the Headache Rack Pro listing, Big Days describes Base Rack fitment as 4'10" beds and up with the tailgate closed. With dirt bikes loaded, Big Days says beds under 5' may need the rear tire shifted toward the center of the bed for the tailgate to close. Offset adapters move a moto mount toward the cab to help.

Headache Rack Pro

The Headache Rack Pro is an add-on for the Chase Rack System, not a standalone rack. It is a laser-cut 1/4" aluminum plate with a MOLLE panel and a center cutout for rear-view mirror visibility, and it fastens to the rack with the included T-track hardware, no drilling. Big Days says it will not work on its own or on other manufacturers' racks.

Drawers, bed boxes and cargo under the rack

The rack rides above the bed, and Big Days says the Base Rack leaves about 40 cu ft of open "Gear Cave" space underneath. A few things the listings do cover:

  • Removable lower beam. The Starter Build // 1 Moto lists a removable lower cross beam for full bed access.
  • Coolers and storage cases. The Storage Case/Cooler Mount uses two L-shaped brackets on the Big Days lower bar to hold boxes and coolers in place, with no drilling.
  • Ladders and lumber. The Ladder/Lumber Mount adds steel bookend brackets on the T-track.

What the listings don't cover: in-bed drawer systems, bed plates and crossover toolboxes that sit on the bed rails. Big Days doesn't state fitment either way, so we won't guess. A toolbox that uses the rails would likely compete with the rack's clamps for the same space, so call us with your measurements before you plan a build around both.

Pre-order fitment checklist

  • Bed length. 4'10" to 8'; under 5'4" for three motos means the short-bed build.
  • Inside width. 40" to 64" between the inside rails.
  • Rail type. Standard lip, factory deck rail or RamBox.
  • Cover. None, folding or retractable with 2"+ of exposed rail, T-track or soft.
  • Mounting preference. Clamp-on and removable, or bolt-on and permanent.
  • Load. Number of motos, bikes or skis, and whether you want the tailgate closed.

Frequently asked questions

What size truck bed does a Big Days chase rack fit?

Big Days lists the Base Rack for beds 4'10" to 8' long with 40"–64" of inside width between the bed rails. Fitment runs by those two measurements, not by year, make or model.

Will a Big Days chase rack fit a Toyota Tacoma?

Yes. Big Days names the Tacoma among the trucks that qualify. If your Tacoma bed has the factory deck rail channel, order the Deck Rail Clamp Kit with the rack.

Will a Big Days chase rack fit a RAM with RamBox?

No. Big Days lists RAM beds with the RamBox system as not compatible. RAM beds without RamBox are on the list of trucks that qualify.

Does a Big Days chase rack work with a tonneau cover?

Big Days lists the rack as tonneau-cover compatible, with rules that vary by cover. Folding and retractable covers need at least 2" of exposed bed rail, covers with an accessory T-track use the T-Track Mounting Kit, and covers without a T-track use the non T-track bolt-on kit, which requires drilling the bed.

Do I need to drill my truck bed?

Not for the standard install. The Base Rack is a clamp-on install with no drilling required. Drilling is only needed for the optional Bolt On Clamp Kit (four 3/8" holes) or the non T-track tonneau bolt-on kit.

How long does a Big Days chase rack take to install?

Big Days lists about an hour of beginner-level first-time assembly. After that, the clamp-on install takes about five minutes with a 13mm deep socket and a 4mm Allen wrench, and the Starter builds list roughly five minutes to put the rack on or take it off.

Can I keep my tailgate closed with a chase rack?

Big Days describes Base Rack fitment as 4'10" beds and up with the tailgate closed, and lists the Essential Build // 3 Moto as closed-tailgate compatible on 4'10" beds and larger. With dirt bikes loaded, beds under 5' may need the rear tire shifted toward the center of the bed for the tailgate to close.

Does a Big Days chase rack fit with a bed drawer system or toolbox?

The Big Days listings don't address in-bed drawer systems or crossover toolboxes, so we can't promise either fits. Send us your bed measurements and what's already in the bed, and we will check it with you before you order.
