Coachbuilder Front Differential Drop Kit | 1.00" Drop for 4WD | Fits Toyota Tacoma 2005+, 4Runner 2003+, FJ Cruiser 2007–2014 | Ekstrom Design

$30.00 $34.10

Tacoma, 4Runner, and FJ Cruiser share a front end — and they share the same CV angle problem once the nose comes up. On 4WD trucks with 2.50” or more of front lift, the axles run steep enough that Coachbuilder recommends correcting the geometry, and this Front Differential Drop Kit does it by lowering the front diff a full 1.00”. CV operating angles come down, front driveline geometry improves, and the CNC-machined 6061 T6 billet aluminum spacers install with all necessary hardware — including the spacers and hardware needed to refit the factory skid plate. It fits 2005 and newer Tacomas, 2003 and newer 4Runners, and 2007–2014 FJ Cruisers, 4WD models only.

Features

  • Lowers the front differential 1.00” to reduce CV axle operating angle
  • Recommended for 4WD trucks with 2.50” or more of front lift
  • Fits Tacoma 2005+, 4Runner 2003+, and FJ Cruiser 2007–2014 (4WD)
  • Spacers CNC machined from 6061 T6 billet aluminum
  • All necessary hardware included
  • Factory skid plate spacers and hardware in the kit
  • TRD Pro models: skid plate modifications may be required

If shims over your coilovers are part of the front lift, grab the matching 1.00” Strut/Coilover Shims for Tacoma, 4Runner, and FJ Cruiser, and protect the extra travel with the Front Bump Stop Kit. The rest of the geometry-correction parts are in our driveline components collection, alongside the full Coachbuilder lineup.

Coachbuilder Front Differential Drop Kit | 1.00" Drop for 4WD | Fits Toyota Tacoma 2005+, 4Runner 2003+, FJ Cruiser 2007–2014 | Ekstrom Design FAQs

Will this fit my lifted 2020 Tacoma TRD Pro?

The kit fits 4WD Tacomas from 2005 to current, along with 2003+ 4Runners and 2007-2014 FJ Cruisers, so a 2020 Tacoma is covered. One caveat for TRD Pro trucks: skid plate modifications may be required to clear the lowered differential. The kit does include spacers and hardware for the factory skid plate.

At what lift height do I need a diff drop?

Coachbuilder recommends this kit once a 4WD Tacoma, 4Runner, or FJ Cruiser is running 2.50" or more of front lift. At that height the CV axles operate at steep angles full-time, and lowering the front differential 1.00" reduces those angles and improves the geometry. If your truck is 2WD, skip it — there are no front CV axles to protect.

Is this the same kit as the Tundra diff drop?

No — it's the same 1.00" drop concept, but this kit is built for the Tacoma, 4Runner, and FJ Cruiser front end and carries a lower lift threshold (2.50"+ versus 3.00"+ on the Tundra). Order the kit that matches your truck: this one for Tacoma 2005+, 4Runner 2003+, and FJ Cruiser 2007-2014, all 4WD.
