JK2TJ Rear Axle Swap Kit with Truss for Jeep Wrangler TJ & LJ 1997-2006
The JK2TJ Rear Axle Swap Kit puts a factory JK rear Dana 44 under a 1997-2006 Wrangler TJ or LJ while keeping the stock four-link suspension layout. The TJ's Dana 35 is the usual casualty of bigger tires, and the JK Dana 44 is the natural upgrade — this kit re-establishes the factory link, sway bar, track bar, and shock positions on the JK housing so your existing suspension bolts straight up. A full-length truss with interlocked gussets reinforces the housing at the same time, so the new axle goes in stronger than it came out of the donor.
Features
- 1/4" mild steel truss and brackets, precision CNC cut and bent
- Every bracket for the swap: upper and lower control arm mounts, shock mounts, sway bar mounts, track bar mount, and coil spring mounts
- Brackets jig into the truss and set their own position — no measuring off the housing
- Track bar mount includes a factory location plus a raised location for lifted rigs
- Interlocked 1/4" gussets stiffen the truss and speed assembly
- Low-profile design tucks the truss in tight for component clearance
- Ships bare steel — prime and paint at install
This kit works with the factory-style four-link rear, so measure nothing and keep your arms — just source a JK rear Dana 44 (2007-2018) and plan on welding the kit to the housing. Doing both ends? Add the JK2TJ Front Axle Swap Kit with Truss for a matched conversion, or delete the rear track bar with the JK2TJ Triangulated Swap Kit. See all our swap bracket packages in complete axle sets.
JK2TJ Rear Axle Swap Kit with Truss for Jeep Wrangler TJ & LJ 1997-2006 FAQs
Will my existing TJ suspension work with this kit?
Yes. The kit re-establishes the factory link, sway bar, track bar, and shock locations on the JK Dana 44 housing, so it is designed for the factory-style four-link rear and your existing arms and hardware carry over. Source a rear Dana 44 from a 2007-2018 Wrangler JK as the donor.
Does it handle a lifted Jeep?
Yes. The track bar mount is built with two positions — the factory location and a raised location — so you can correct axle centering and track bar angle after installing an aftermarket lift without adding a separate relocation bracket.
What skills and finishing does the install require?
The truss and brackets are weld-on, so proper welding to the axle housing is required. The brackets jig into the truss and set their own position, which removes the layout work, and the interlocked 1/4" gussets slot together for easy assembly. Everything ships as bare steel — prime and paint once welding is done.
