Toyota 4Runner 5th Gen A-Arm Skids

$299.99

CV boots, alignment cam bolts, and lower ball joints all live on the leading edge of a 5th Gen Toyota 4Runner's front suspension, and any of them can end a trip when a rock finds them. These Artec A-Arm Skids bolt straight to the OEM lower control arms and cover all of it with one-piece 1/4" aerospace-grade 6061 aluminum, CNC laser cut, formed, and TIG welded. The contoured shape follows the arm so ground clearance doesn't change, and the pair adds only about 7 pounds of unsprung weight — a rounding error compared to steel.

Features

  • One-piece 1/4" aerospace-grade 6061 aluminum — tougher than the 5052 alloy on many competing skids
  • TIG welded for strength, with a lifetime warranty on welds, cracking, and bending
  • Shields CV boots, alignment cam bolts, and the lower A-arm itself
  • Adds only about 7 lbs of unsprung weight per pair
  • Contoured design gives up no ground clearance
  • Countersunk bolts leave a smooth bottom that slides over obstacles
  • Designed from factory CAD files; typical install runs 20-30 minutes
  • Made in the USA

Fits the 5th Gen Toyota 4Runner, 2014-2024, bolting to the factory lower A-arms — but not KDSS-equipped trucks, and factory TRD skid plates need minor trimming for clearance. Install requires drilling one hole per arm for the included rivnuts. Round out the underbody with the 4Runner Bellypan System and Fuel Tank Skid, or take the Full Skid Plate System in one shot. Toyota 4Runner 5th Gen A-Arm Skids FAQs

Will these work on a KDSS-equipped 4Runner?

No. The A-arm skids are not compatible with KDSS-equipped 4Runners. On non-KDSS 5th Gen trucks (2014-2024) they bolt to the factory lower A-arms with a precise CAD-designed fit.

What does installation involve?

Plan on 20-30 minutes. The skids bolt to the OEM lower A-arms with countersunk hardware, and you'll drill one hole per arm to set the included rivnuts. If your truck runs the factory TRD skid plates, a small amount of trimming is needed for clearance.

What exactly do they protect?

The lower A-arm itself plus the vulnerable bits attached to it — CV boots, alignment cam bolts, and the lower ball joint area. Those are the components that catch rocks first on an IFS truck, and replacing a torn boot or bent cam bolt on the trail is a much worse afternoon than bolting on skids.
