High Clearance Replacement Bash Skid for Jeep Wrangler JK, JL & Gladiator JT
The bash skid under Artec Industries' High Clearance front bumpers is designed to take the hits so the bumper structure does not have to - and after enough seasons of rock contact, it earns replacement. This is that skid: 3/16" aerospace-grade aluminum, made in the USA and machined for countersunk hardware so the surface stays flush and slides over obstacles instead of hooking on them. It fits the High Clearance front bumpers used on the Jeep Wrangler JK (2007-2018), Wrangler JL (2018+), and Gladiator JT (2020+), whether you are refreshing a battered skid or completing a bumper on a project rig.
Features
- 3/16" aerospace-grade aluminum keeps protection light on the nose
- Precision-machined countersunk hardware leaves a smooth, snag-free face
- Direct replacement for the skid on Artec's High Clearance front bumpers
- Works with both the standard and hoop versions of the bumper
- Bolt-on installation, no welding
- Made in the USA
Note that this is a component skid for the High Clearance bumper family, not a standalone frame skid - it needs the High Clearance Front Bumper or the High Clearance Front Bumper with Hoop to mount to. Finish the winch opening with the Fairlead & Light Bracket, and find the whole lineup in our front bumpers collection.
High Clearance Replacement Bash Skid for Jeep Wrangler JK, JL & Gladiator JT FAQs
Which bumpers does this skid fit?
It is the replacement bash skid for Artec's High Clearance front bumper family on the Jeep Wrangler JK, JL, and Gladiator JT — the same skid serves both the standard and hoop versions. It is not a standalone frame skid and is not designed to bolt to other bumpers or directly to the chassis.
Why is it aluminum instead of steel?
The 3/16" aerospace-grade aluminum takes rock strikes while keeping weight off the front axle, which matters on a bumper already engineered to stay light. Combined with the countersunk hardware, the flat face slides across obstacles rather than digging in.
How hard is the swap?
It is a bolt-on job with no welding — unbolt the old skid, position the new one, and torque down the included countersunk hardware. If your original hardware is chewed up from trail contact, the fresh hardware in the kit covers you.
