JL/JT to TJ APEX Front Swap Kit, M210 Original Casting, Jeep Wrangler TJ/LJ 1997-2006
The JL/JT to TJ APEX Front Swap Kit lets you retire the tired factory Dana 30 under a Jeep Wrangler TJ or LJ and run the far stronger M210 advanced Dana 44 front axle pulled from a Wrangler JL or Gladiator JT donor. Artec Industries developed the kit's heavy-duty frame-side coil buckets from 3D scans of both the TJ frame and the JL/JT M210 housing, so the modern axle goes in with correct coil and control-arm positioning, ride height, and steering geometry. This version is machined specifically for the M210 original casting. It is a fabrication-level kit built for TJ owners and shops comfortable with axle-swap welding.
Features
- Adapts a JL/JT M210 advanced Dana 44 front axle into a TJ/LJ Wrangler, a major strength upgrade over the factory Dana 30
- Heavy-duty frame-side coil buckets engineered from 3D scan data of the TJ frame and M210 housing
- Sets correct coil and control-arm positioning so ride height and steering stay dialed after the swap
- Machined specifically for the M210 original casting
- Weld-in installation for a permanent, fully fabricated joint
- Laser-cut and formed in the USA (SKU TJ1001)
Before ordering, identify your donor housing: this kit indexes on the original M210 casting, while the later 2005-style housing takes the JT/JL to TJ Front Swap for the 05 casting. Welding is required, so plan on a competent welder handling the install, and budget for control arms, steering, and a track bar suited to your build. Strengthen the new housing with the JL/JT APEX Front Axle Armor Kit, and see the rest of our axle reinforcements and axle swap kits.
JL/JT to TJ APEX Front Swap Kit, M210 Original Casting, Jeep Wrangler TJ/LJ 1997-2006 FAQs
How do I know if my M210 is the original casting or the 05 casting?
Artec builds two versions of this swap kit because the M210 housing exists in two castings. Inspect your donor axle's center-section casting before ordering — this kit is machined for the original casting, while the later revised 2005-style housing requires Artec's 05-casting version so the brackets index correctly.
Is welding required to install this kit?
Yes. The heavy-duty coil buckets weld in, so this is a fabrication-level project rather than a bolt-on. It should be handled by a builder or shop comfortable with axle-swap welding and accurate bracket placement.
What else do I need to complete the axle swap?
Plan for control arms, steering, a track bar, and driveshaft work suited to your build. Many builders also reinforce the M210 housing with Artec's APEX front truss and armor components at the same time, since the axle is already out and prepped for welding.
