Installing an Alpine head unit in a Tacoma leaves one loose end, the microphone. This Trail Grid Pro mount puts an Alpine aftermarket mic into the headliner console in the original microphone location, so hands-free calls pick up your voice from where the factory system did, and nothing new shows up on the dash.

The mount slips into the console with the legs and the rounded end of the microphone facing down, then locks in with a clip. The wire is routed toward the rearview mirror, along the top of the windshield and down the driver-side A-pillar, so the finished job looks tidy.

Fitment

2016-2023 Toyota Tacoma.

Install notes

Pull down on the headliner console to release its pressure clips, using a plastic panel tool. Unplug the console harness and remove the foam insert from the factory microphone port. Push the rounded end of the microphone through the mount opening so it sits near the bottom of the center support, then press the assembly into the console until it clicks. Route the wire as described, run it under the dash, and plug the 3.5mm jack into the red microphone port on the back of your Alpine head unit. Power up and test the microphone.
