ICON's Vehicle Specific (V.S.) 3.0 Series is the larger-bore step above the 2.5: ICON quotes 50% more piston surface area, plus more internal oil volume and external surface area, which translates to steadier control at the extremes and better heat dissipation and fade resistance under hard use. This listing is the rear pair with remote reservoirs, sized for trucks running 0-2" of lift.
On remote-reservoir designs like this one, ICON machines a 6061 billet aluminum manifold a few inches below the top cap. That creates an internal bump zone which ICON says adds about 20% more damping force near the end of compression, helping the truck resist harsh bottom-outs and stay controlled when the suspension compresses quickly. Like every ICON shock, it is also 100% rebuildable and revalveable, so it can be serviced and retuned rather than replaced.
The included Compression Damping Control Valve (CDCV) governs how freely oil moves on compression, so you can set the shock for street comfort, slow rock crawling or fast desert running. ICON describes it as externally adjustable, with 10 levels of compression damping force.
