Tube Adapter 7/8"-14 TPI for 1.0" ID / 1.5" OD Tube

$23.09

The 7/8"-14 tube adapter is the middle child of Artec's weld-in inserts and probably the most used: it drops into 1.5" OD, 0.250" wall DOM tubing (1.0" ID) and accepts 7/8"-14 rod ends, the workhorse size for upper links, tie rods, and drag links. Machined from steel with full-length threads, a no-grind beveled weld edge, a flat land on the OD, and wrench flats, it turns raw tube into an adjustable link or steering bar that looks factory-finished.

Features

  • 7/8"-14 TPI full-length threading for maximum positive engagement
  • 1.0" ID body press-fits the bore of 1.5" OD x 0.250" wall DOM tube
  • 1.5" OD matches the tube outside for a flush, stepless joint
  • Beveled edge welds with no pre-grinding; flat OD land keeps the weld edge square
  • Machined wrench flats for easy length adjustment
  • Right-hand (TA1401R) and left-hand reverse (TA1401L) thread options
  • CNC-machined steel, made in the USA

This is a universal fabrication component — confirm your tube ID and your rod end thread pitch before ordering. Pair a right-hand and a left-hand adapter on the same tube so the finished link or tie rod adjusts without unbolting, and lock each joint with the 7/8"-14 TPI Jam Nut. Lighter rods use the 3/4"-16 TPI adapter; heavy lower links step up to the 1.25"-12 TPI adapter. Welding required.

Tube Adapter 7/8"-14 TPI for 1.0" ID / 1.5" OD Tube FAQs

What tubing is this adapter made for?

1.5" outside-diameter tube with a 1.0" inside diameter, which corresponds to nominal 0.250" wall DOM. The 1.0" body slides tightly into the bore and the 1.5" OD sits flush with the tube face, so the welded joint is both strong and clean-looking.

Do I need both thread directions?

For an adjustable link or tie rod, yes — weld a right-hand (TA1401R) adapter in one end and a left-hand (TA1401L) in the other. The assembly then works like a turnbuckle and can be lengthened or shortened without disconnecting either rod end.

What keeps the rod end from working loose?

A 7/8"-14 jam nut threaded onto each rod end and tightened against the adapter locks the set length so vibration and articulation cannot back the joint out. Set your length, check alignment, then jam both nuts down before the first drive.
