Jeep changed the 3.6L Pentastar's underbody layout after the 2020 model year, which is why Artec Industries cuts this Alpha Series oil skid (SKU JL4184) specifically for 2021-and-newer Wranglers. It caps the oil pan and transmission pan in 1/4" heat-treated aluminum and fits both 2-door JL and 4-door JLU builds. The integrated oil door swings open for oil and filter changes, so the plate stays bolted on between services. As the front module in Artec's no-overlap system, it pairs cleanly with the rest of the bellypan whenever you add pieces.

How do I know whether I need the 2021+ or the 2018-2020 version?

Go by model year. Jeep revised the 3.6L underbody after 2020, so this skid fits 2021-and-newer Wranglers, while 2018, 2019, and 2020 trucks take the earlier version. Ordering the wrong year means the oil door and mounting points will not line up with your pan.

Will it fit my 2-door as well as a 4-door JLU?

Yes. The front oil-pan area is common to both body styles, so this single skid covers 2-door and 4-door 2021+ Wranglers with the 3.6L Pentastar. Engine is the deciding factor — 2.0L, diesel, and 392 models each use a different Artec oil skid.

Do I still get to the drain plug and filter with the skid on?

Yes. The integrated oil door is removable and opens straight to the drain plug and filter, so routine service never requires unbolting the plate. Everything else installs bolt-on to factory points with Artec's countersunk OEM-thread hardware — no welding involved.
