Boatside Steel & Aluminum Rocker Armor for Jeep Wrangler JLU 2018+
This boatside rocker armor gives the four-door Jeep Wrangler JLU maximum clearance where the body meets the rocks. Instead of a flat slider face, the armor angles up and inboard like a boat hull, so the long JLU body slides over ledges rather than hanging up on a slider edge. It is a two-piece layered build: 3/16" steel guards and support brackets carry the structural load, while 1/4" heat-treated 6061-T6 aluminum plating covers the body for protection without the weight penalty of full steel. Artec engineered it from factory CAD files and 3D Creaform laser scans, and it bolts on with no welding.
Features
- High-clearance boatside geometry angles the armor inboard so the body slides over obstacles
- 3/16" steel guards and support brackets handle the impact load
- 1/4" heat-treated 6061-T6 aluminum plating sheds weight without giving up coverage
- 5/16" zinc-plated steel countersink fasteners sit flush for a snag-free face
- Two-piece layered construction, CNC laser cut, formed, and countersunk
- Designed from factory CAD files and 3D laser scans for a precise bolt-on fit
- American made
Fitment is the four-door Wrangler JLU (2018 and up) only — the two-door JL body is shorter and is not covered, and Gladiator owners should look at the JT Boatside Steel & Aluminum Rocker Armor. The kit can work alongside many aftermarket guards, though modifications may be needed depending on brand. Prefer a lighter, flat-face panel? See the JLU Aluminum Rocker Armor, or compare everything in the rockers and sliders collection.
Boatside Steel & Aluminum Rocker Armor for Jeep Wrangler JLU 2018+ FAQs
Will this fit a two-door JL or a Gladiator?
No. This armor is engineered for the four-door Wrangler JLU (2018 and up) only. The two-door JL uses a shorter rocker section, and the Gladiator has its own version — Artec's JT Boatside Steel & Aluminum Rocker Armor — cut to that longer body.
Why combine steel and aluminum instead of using one material?
Each material does what it is best at. The 3/16" steel guards and support brackets carry the structural load when the Jeep sets down on a rock, while the 1/4" heat-treated 6061-T6 aluminum plating covers the body with far less weight than full steel and will not rust.
Does installation require welding or drilling?
No welding — the kit is a bolt-on that installs with the included 5/16" zinc-plated countersink fasteners, which sit flush for a smooth face. It can coexist with many aftermarket guards or sliders, though minor modification may be necessary depending on the brand you run.
