Triangulated Sterling 1-Ton Swap Kit with Truss for Jeep Wrangler TJ 1997-2006
Built for Ford donors, this kit locates a Super Duty Sterling one-ton rear axle under a 1997-2006 Jeep Wrangler TJ using triangulated upper links in place of a track bar. The Sterling 10.25/10.5 is one of the toughest and cheapest one-ton rears in any junkyard, and this bracket package converts it to link suspension while heavy trussing reinforces the housing end to end. Track-bar-free geometry means the axle stays centered through full compression and droop without the lateral push a panhard setup fights. It is the rear-axle foundation for a TJ that has outgrown half-ton parts.
Features
- 3/8" thick truss top with 1/4" gussets and 1/4" brackets, precision CNC cut and bent
- All swap brackets included: upper and lower control arm mounts, shock mounts, and coil spring mounts
- Triangulated upper control arms replace the track bar for cleaner, stronger geometry
- Outer brackets self-locate to the truss, removing measuring and guesswork from fit-up
- 2.63" wide upper link mounts take a 1.25" rod end kit or other large joints
- High Clearance option substitutes flat lower link brackets and shock mounts for rocky terrain
- Made in the USA
Know what the conversion requires: OEM control arms are out — new upper links and frame-side brackets finish the four-link — and the Sterling's big third member will not clear a factory TJ sway bar, so the kit skips factory-style sway bar mounts and an aftermarket rear bar is needed. Everything welds on, so bring fabrication skills or a good shop. GM donor instead? Use the Triangulated TJ 14-Bolt 1-Ton Swap Kit. Finish the one-ton conversion up front with the TJ 1-Ton Super Duty Front 60 Swap Kit, and see the full range of complete axle sets.
Triangulated Sterling 1-Ton Swap Kit with Truss for Jeep Wrangler TJ 1997-2006 FAQs
Which donor axle do I need for this kit?
A Ford Super Duty Sterling one-ton rear axle. The kit's truss and brackets are shaped for the Sterling housing and convert it to fit a 1997-2006 Jeep Wrangler TJ on a triangulated four-link. If your donor is a GM 14-bolt, Artec makes a separate kit contoured for that housing.
Why does the kit leave out sway bar mounts?
The Sterling's third member is too large to clear a factory TJ sway bar, so factory-style mounts would be useless on this swap. Plan on an aftermarket rear sway bar to finish the build if you want roll control on the street.
What does the conversion require beyond the brackets?
New upper links and frame-side brackets, since the triangulated design deletes the track bar and OEM control arms are not compatible. The 2.63" upper link mounts accept a 1.25" rod end kit or other large joints. Installation is weld-on — the brackets self-locate to the truss, but welding to the housing demands solid fabrication skills.
