Sterling 10.25/10.5 Rear Modular Truss

$279.99

The Sterling 10.25 Rear Modular Truss reinforces the Ford Sterling 10.25 and 10.5 rear axle — the Super Duty take-out that has become a go-to one-ton rear swap under Jeep TJ and YJ builds. Big tires and a linked rear suspension put loads into that housing it never saw from the factory, and this truss ties the axle tubes to the center section while giving you a flat, purpose-built surface for mounting upper links. The modular layout is what sets it apart: it works around factory leaf spring perches or add-on coil and leaf perches, so you can change spring setups later without cutting the whole truss off the housing.

Features

  • 3/8" mild steel truss top with interlocking 1/4" mild steel gussets, CNC cut and bent
  • 32" wide — spans the center section and ties into both axle tubes
  • Low-profile top places upper link joints with ideal geometry, about 8" from the axle centerline
  • Modular design accepts factory leaf perches or add-on coil and leaf spring perches, and lets you switch between them down the road
  • Interlocking gussets self-fixture during assembly for straight, repeatable welding
  • Weld-on installation; made in the USA

Confirm you have a Sterling 10.25 or 10.5 housing before ordering, and expect minor grinding or trimming around some axle castings. This is a job for a competent welder — tack everything first, then stitch weld in an alternating pattern and let the tubes cool to keep the housing straight. The truss ships as bare steel, so paint or coat it after welding; spring perches and shock mounts are sold separately. Extend it to the wheel ends with a pair of Modular Truss Ends, or compare the Sterling Rear Apex Short Truss. More one-ton options live in our axle reinforcements and axle swap kit collections.

Sterling 10.25/10.5 Rear Modular Truss FAQs

Which axles does this truss fit, and does it work with leaf springs?

It fits the Ford Sterling 10.25 and 10.5 rear axle used under Super Duty trucks, a common one-ton rear swap for Jeep TJ and YJ builds. The modular layout is built to coexist with factory leaf spring perches or add-on coil and leaf perches, so you can even move from leaf to coil later without cutting the truss off the housing. Some axle castings may need minor grinding or trimming during fit-up.

What welding skill does the install take?

This is a structural weld-on truss and should only be installed by a competent welder. Tack the truss and gussets in place first, then stitch weld in an alternating pattern and allow the axle tubes to cool between passes — concentrated heat can warp a housing. The interlocking gussets self-fixture, which keeps everything aligned while you work.

What comes in the box, and what do I still need?

You get the 3/8" truss top and the interlocking 1/4" gusset set — the structure itself. Spring perches, shock mounts, and link hardware are sold separately so you can configure the axle for your suspension. The steel ships bare, so plan on paint or coating once welding is complete.
