The Modular Truss End is the extension piece that turns an Artec Modular or Short truss into a full-width truss. Short trusses reinforce the center of the housing but leave the outer axle tubes on their own — on a full-width one-ton axle running big tires, that is exactly where bending loads concentrate. Weld one of these onto each end and the reinforcement carries all the way out toward the wheel ends, with a low profile that tucks under rear frame rails and a flat that doubles as a bump stop pad. It fits 3.5" axle tubes, the common size on one-ton housings like the 14 bolt, Sterling, and Dana 60.
Features
- 3/8" mild steel truss top with interlocking 1/4" mild steel gussets
- Cut for 3.5" axle tube diameter
- 20.73" overall length per end
- Extends Artec Modular and Short trusses — and most short-style trusses from other brands — to full width
- Lower profile than a standard rear truss for frame rail clearance
- Flat top surface serves as a built-in bump stop pad or link mounting surface
- Sold as a single unit; made in the USA
Measure your axle tube diameter — this piece is cut for 3.5" tubes — and order one per side if you are extending both directions. Installation is weld-on work for a competent welder, some builds will need light trimming during fit-up, and pulling the axle gives the best welding access; the bare steel needs paint or coating afterward. It pairs directly with the Sterling 10.25 Rear Modular Truss, and it can take a base like the 14 bolt Front Truss or 14 bolt Rear Short Truss out to full width. Browse the rest of our axle reinforcements for gussets and trusses to match.
Modular Truss End for 3.5 Inch Axle Tubes FAQs
Is this sold as a pair, and what axle tubes does it fit?
It is sold as a single unit, so order one per side if you want to extend the truss in both directions. The gussets are cut for 3.5" axle tube diameter — the common tube size on one-ton axles such as the 14 bolt, Sterling, and Dana 60 — so measure your tubes before ordering.
Will it work with a truss from another manufacturer?
Yes. It is designed around Artec Modular and Short trusses, but the geometry works with most short-style trusses from other brands as well. Dry-fit it against your existing truss first — some combinations need light trimming to blend the two together cleanly.
What does installation involve?
This is structural weld-on fabrication and should be handled by a competent welder. The interlocking 1/4" gussets self-fixture on the tube, but you will get the best weld access with the axle out of the vehicle; tack, then stitch weld and manage heat so the housing stays straight. The steel ships bare, so paint or coat it once the welding is done.
