Modular Rear Truss for Dana 60 Rear Axle

$309.99

A Dana 60 rear swap solves your strength problem, but a bare housing still needs bracing and link mounts before it earns its keep under a wheeling rig. The Artec Modular Rear Truss for the Dana 60 handles both jobs: a 3/8" steel spine stiffens the housing against axle wrap and hard hits, while the flat, low-profile top puts upper link joints roughly 8" from the axle centerline for sound suspension geometry. Its modular layout adapts to leaf or coil setups, which is why it is a staple of one-ton rear swaps under TJ and YJ Wranglers and plenty of full-custom builds.

Features

  • 3/8" thick mild steel truss top for maximum housing rigidity
  • Interlocking 1/4" steel gussets stiffen the structure and simplify assembly
  • Modular layout adapts to different link arrangements and converts between leaf and coil springs
  • Upper link joints mount approximately 8" from the axle centerline for ideal geometry
  • Approximately 31" wide, sized for 3.5" diameter axle tubes
  • Low-clearance profile tucks under the vehicle and stays out of the rocks
  • Precision CNC cut and bent, made in the USA

Measure before you buy: the truss is built around 3.5" axle tubes and spans about 31", and adapting it to a Dana 70 requires some trimming. It is a weld-on part for custom link suspension work, so budget for skilled welding and paint over the bare steel afterward. Running a Ford 8.8 instead of a 60? The 8.8 Truss Bridge reinforces that swap, and the Adjustable Truss Upper Link Mount pairs with Artec trusses for link tuning. Find more options in axle reinforcements and our axle swap kits.

Modular Rear Truss for Dana 60 Rear Axle FAQs

What axles does this truss fit?

It is designed for the common Dana 60 rear axle with 3.5" diameter tubes and spans roughly 31" of the housing. It can be adapted to a Dana 70 with some trimming. Measure your tube diameter and housing width before ordering, since junkyard 60s vary by donor vehicle.

What does the modular design actually mean?

Instead of one fixed configuration, the truss adapts to a range of link arrangements and converts between leaf spring and coil spring setups. That flexibility is why it works across TJ and YJ one-ton rear swaps and full custom builds alike — you configure the truss around your suspension, not the other way around.

Does it include link mounts, and is welding required?

The kit is the 3/8" truss top and interlocking 1/4" gussets; upper link mounts are added to the flat top, which positions the joints about 8" from the axle centerline. It is entirely weld-on, so plan on a competent welder for installation and paint the bare steel when finished.
