Dana's Ultimate Dana 60 crate axle sits under a lot of serious JK, JL, and custom one-ton builds, and this truss is Artec's second-generation answer to keeping that investment straight. A 3/8" steel top spans the full length of the housing while interlocked 1/4" gussets tie into the center section, spreading bending loads across the whole axle instead of letting them concentrate at the tubes. An integrated 1/4" ram mount accepts a double-ended hydraulic ram directly, so hydro-assist or full-hydro steering needs no separate bracket, and the deliberately short profile protects oil pan clearance and uptravel on lifted rigs.
Features
- 3/8" mild steel top with 1/4" mild steel ram mount and gussets, CNC cut and bent
- Full-length coverage reinforces the axle tubes from end to end
- Integrated ram mount takes a double-ended hydraulic ram with no extra bracket
- Interlocked gussets, wider than the first generation, tab together for easy fixturing
- Internal gussets conform to the differential so they can be welded to the housing for extra strength
- Clearanced for the diff breather tube and electronic connections
- Clears JK steering and ABS hardware; works alongside coilover and ORI strut setups
- Made in the USA
This truss is cut to the UD60 housing specifically — if you run a factory Ford kingpin or balljoint 60, use the Low Profile Ford Kingpin/Balljoint Front Truss instead, and JL or JT owners keeping the stock axle should look at the JL-JT Apex Front Axle Truss. Installation calls for an experienced welder: preheat the housing to roughly 400 degrees, tack everything in place, stitch weld, then grind, clean, and paint or powder coat the bare steel. Low Profile Front Truss for Ultimate Dana 60 FAQs
Does this fit a standard Dana 60 front?
No. It is contoured to the Ultimate Dana 60 crate housing specifically, following the UD60 center section and tubes for a drop-on fit. If you are running a factory Ford, Dodge, or Chevy 60, Artec builds dedicated trusses for those housings instead.
What steering setups does the ram mount support?
The integrated 1/4" mount is designed for a double-ended hydraulic ram, so it covers hydraulic-assist and full-hydro steering without a separate bracket. The truss is also clearanced around JK steering and ABS hardware and works alongside coilover and ORI strut setups.
What should I expect for installation and finishing?
Plan on an experienced welder. The gussets tab together for easy tack-up, then the truss is stitch welded with the housing preheated to around 400 degrees to limit warping. Afterward, grind and clean the welds and apply paint or powder coat — the steel ships bare.
