APEX Rear Axle Truss for Jeep Wrangler JL 2018+ (M220 Axle)
The JL APEX Rear Axle Truss braces the M220 rear housing in a Jeep Wrangler JL against the bending loads that 37s-and-up tires and hard landings feed into a factory axle. Artec's peaked APEX top puts the strength in the shape, so the 3/16" mild steel truss stays under 10 lbs while stiffening the housing end to end. It arrives CNC-bent to the housing's contours and welds on with far less bead than a traditional multi-piece truss.
Features
- Peaked APEX top profile for greater rigidity than a flat-top truss
- CNC laser-cut in-house from 3/16" mild steel, under 10 lbs
- Contours modeled from Dana and Jeep 3D data for fit and clearance
- Pre-bent long seams drop onto the axle with no puzzle-piece assembly
- Roughly 70% less welding than older truss designs, limiting heat warp
- Fits the M220 rear axle used across JL Rubicon and many Sport/Sahara builds
- Made in the USA (SKU JL4502)
Confirm your axle before ordering: the truss fits the M220 rear axle — all JL Rubicons, Sport and Sahara trims with a manual transmission, and automatic JLs with a limited-slip differential — while base automatics typically carry the smaller M200, for which no version is offered. It is a bare-steel weld-on part best installed by a competent MIG welder and painted afterward. Guard the other end with the JL/JT APEX Front Axle Armor Kit, or if you are headed past what an M220 can take, see the JL 1-Ton UD80 APEX Rear Axle Swap Kit & Truss and the rest of our axle reinforcements.
APEX Rear Axle Truss for Jeep Wrangler JL 2018+ (M220 Axle) FAQs
How do I know if my JL has the M220 axle?
All JL Rubicons run the M220 rear axle. On Sport and Sahara trims, manual-transmission Jeeps and automatics equipped with a limited-slip differential generally have the M220, while base open-diff automatics typically carry the smaller M200. This truss fits the M220 only, and no M200 version is offered.
Can I install it myself?
Only if you are a competent welder — the truss welds to the axle housing. MIG welding with moderate pre-heat and post-heat is recommended, alternating from side to side to limit warping. The pre-bent design keeps total welding to roughly 30% of what older trusses required.
Does it interfere with the factory suspension or lines?
No. The truss is modeled from Dana and Jeep 3D data to contour the M220 housing and clear surrounding components. It ships as bare steel, so plan to prime and paint it once the welds have cooled.
