Dana 44 Modular Rear Truss for Jeep Wrangler JK 2007-2018
Artec's modular rear truss reinforces the Dana 44 rear axle under 2007-2018 Jeep Wrangler JK Rubicons, the housing that starts bending tubes once 37s, lockers, and hard hookup enter the picture. CNC cut and bent from 1/4" mild steel, it spans the housing — roughly 31" across the axle center — to tie both tubes together instead of just patching the middle. The flat, low-profile top doubles as a mounting surface for triangulated upper links, placing link joints about 8" from the axle centerline for clean geometry. It's built for JK owners converting to a linked rear suspension who want the axle stiffened at the same time.
Features
- CNC cut and bent from 1/4" mild steel for tight, repeatable fitment
- Spans roughly 31" across the axle center to reinforce the tubes, not just the link area
- Flat top mounts triangulated upper links about 8" from the axle centerline
- Interlocked 1/4" gussets self-locate for strength and easier assembly
- Low-profile shape keeps the axle compact and clear of surrounding components
- Modular layout works around optional coil perches for your suspension setup
- Made in the USA
This is a weld-on truss and only a competent welder should install it — Artec recommends heating the axle to around 400°F and stitch welding while alternating sides to limit warping. It ships as bare steel, so prime and paint after welding. Add the Tall Adjustable Truss Upper Link Mount to set your upper link geometry on the flat top, and browse more axle trusses and reinforcements or other Jeep Wrangler upgrades.
Dana 44 Modular Rear Truss for Jeep Wrangler JK 2007-2018 FAQs
Which axle does this truss fit?
It is built for the Dana 44 rear axle under the 2007-2018 Jeep Wrangler JK — the rear axle found on Rubicon models. Artec notes it can be adapted to a TJ rear Dana 44 with modifications, but that combination is not officially tested. Verify you have a Dana 44 rear before ordering, since non-Rubicon JKs use a Dana 35-based rear.
Do I need to weld this on, and how?
Yes, this is a weld-on truss that should only be installed by a competent welder. Artec recommends heating the axle to roughly 400°F and stitch welding in alternating sections on opposite sides to keep the housing from warping. Plan on pulling the axle for the cleanest job.
Where do my upper links attach?
The low-profile top gives you a flat surface that places upper link joints about 8" from the axle centerline, which suits a triangulated 4-link or 3-link rear setup. Weld-on link mounts such as Artec's adjustable truss link mounts bolt your joints to that surface. The truss ships bare, so paint it once the welding is done.
