Apex Front Axle Truss for Jeep Wrangler JK 2007-2018
The Artec Apex Front Axle Truss is a weld-on housing reinforcement for the front Dana 30 or Dana 44 under the 2007-2018 Jeep Wrangler JK and JKU. Stock JK tubes are known to bend once 35s or 37s, lockers, and hard landings enter the picture, and a bent housing eats ball joints, unit bearings, and alignment settings. Artec's answer is a patented peaked-top truss, CNC laser cut from 1/8" mild steel and pre-bent in-house so it drops over the housing ready to weld. At roughly 7 lbs it stiffens the axle end to end without piling on unsprung weight, and it was engineered from 3D models supplied by Dana and Jeep so it clears the cast center section and the front axle disconnect.
Features
- Patented Apex peaked-top profile resists bending loads better than a flat-top truss of the same weight
- CNC laser cut from 1/8" mild steel and CNC bent in-house, roughly 7 lbs installed
- Pre-bent sections drop onto the housing ready to weld, with no puzzle-piece assembly
- Roughly 70% less weld length than earlier designs, which cuts heat input and warping
- Contours around the cast differential and the front axle disconnect (FAD)
- Dimpled lightening holes shed weight while keeping the structure rigid
- Works with the factory track bar bracket (trim along the laser-etched lines) or Artec's replacement bracket
Select the variant that matches your front axle: JK4451 for the Dana 44 under Rubicons, JK3051 for the Dana 30 under Sport and Sahara models. This is a weld-on part best handled by an experienced welder; Artec recommends preheating the cast center section to around 400 degrees and letting the axle cool slowly over 18-24 hours under a welding blanket. The truss is also the backbone of the JK Apex Front Axle Armor Kit and the Ultimate Armor Kit if you want gussets and brackets in one order. Running a JL or JT instead? Apex Front Axle Truss for Jeep Wrangler JK 2007-2018 FAQs
Which variant fits my Jeep?
Both versions fit the 2007-2018 Jeep Wrangler JK and JKU — the difference is the front axle. Order JK4451 if you have the Dana 44 that came under Rubicon models, or JK3051 for the Dana 30 under Sport and Sahara models. If the axle has been swapped, match the truss to the housing, not the trim level.
Do I need to be a welder to install it?
Yes, this is a weld-on truss and the joints include cast-to-steel welds, so professional or experienced welding is strongly recommended. Artec advises preheating the cast center section to roughly 400 degrees before welding and wrapping the axle so it cools slowly over 18-24 hours. The pre-bent design needs about 70% less welding than older trusses, which keeps heat and warping down.
Will it work with my track bar bracket?
Yes. The truss clears the factory track bar bracket if you trim the truss along its laser-etched lines, and it fits Artec's replacement track bar bracket with no trimming at all. If you want the bracket, gussets, and truss together, the JK Apex Armor Kits bundle them.
