Artec's centered full-width Dana 44 truss is built for one job: turning a centered-differential Dana 44 — like the TJ Rubicon rear axle — into a proper foundation for a linked suspension. Cut from 1/4" mild steel, it spans roughly 43.5" across the housing, reinforcing the tubes from end to end while its flat, low-profile top becomes the mounting platform for your upper links. This is a fabrication part for triangulated 4-link builds running coilovers or air shocks; it is not intended for axles keeping factory leaf or coil-bucket brackets.
Features
- 1/4" mild steel throughout, precision CNC cut and bent
- Full-width span of approximately 43.5" reinforces the entire housing
- Low profile puts upper-link joints roughly 8" from the axle centerline
- Interlocked 1/4" gussets self-jig for accurate assembly and maximum rigidity
- Fits centered (symmetrical) differential Dana 44 housings such as the TJ Rubicon rear
- Can be modified to suit larger tube diameters per Artec
- Slim shape packages cleanly in tight chassis
Measure your housing before ordering: the differential must be centered, and the truss is designed around a triangulated 4-link with coilover or air shocks. Installation is weld-on and demands solid fabrication skills, and the bare steel should be prepped for paint or powder coat after welding. Hang your lower links with the Lower Link Axle Brackets, add Truss Upper Link Mounts and Coilover Tabs up top, and see the rest of our axle reinforcements.
Dana 44 Axle Truss (Centered, Full Width) FAQs
Will this truss fit my Dana 44?
It fits Dana 44 housings with a centered, symmetrical differential — the TJ Wrangler Rubicon rear 44 is the classic example. It spans about 43.5" across the housing, and Artec notes it can be modified to suit larger tube diameters. Offset-diff housings and axles keeping stock brackets are not what this truss is for.
Can I use it with my factory suspension?
No. This truss is engineered for triangulated 4-link suspensions running coilover or air shocks, and its shape assumes the stock leaf-spring or coil-bucket hardware is gone. If your axle still uses factory spring brackets, this is not the right part for the build.
What else do I need to finish the axle?
Plan on upper link mounts and shock tabs for the truss top — Artec's Truss Upper Link Mounts and Coilover Tabs are made to match — plus lower link brackets on the tubes. Installation is weld-on and calls for extensive fabrication skills, and the bare steel needs paint or powder coat once welding is complete.
