Ford Dana 60 Front Ram Mount & Truss 1985-1991.5
The Artec Industries Ford Dana 60 Front Ram Mount & Truss for 1985-1991.5 trucks combines full-length housing reinforcement with a purpose-built platform for a full-hydraulic steering ram. The 3/8" steel truss top keeps the kingpin 60 from bending under big tires, while the 1/4" ram mount is angled for Ford knuckles and tied into the truss by a 1/4" bridge that also armors the ram against rocks. On a full-hydro rig the steering system is the most expensive and vulnerable thing on the axle, and this assembly is built to protect it.
Features
- 3/8" mild steel truss top spanning the entire axle for complete tube reinforcement
- 1/4" mild steel ram mount, bridge, and interlocked gussets, CNC cut and bent in the USA
- Fits both PSC Motorsports and Howe Performance double-ended hydraulic rams
- Ram mount doubles as an axle skid plate, with a bolt-on plate for gear access
- Clearanced for rotated knuckles and pinions; drainage holes shed mud and weight
- Contoured for 3" axle tubes and accommodates tubes up to 4"
- Low-profile top locates link joints roughly 8" from the axle centerline
It is built around the 1985-1991.5 Ford kingpin front Dana 60, and Artec notes compatibility with 1992-1997 balljoint 60s, with later SuperDuty axles requiring modification (heavy casting trimming on 2005-up). Everything welds on and ships as bare steel, so budget for skilled fabrication and paint. If you only need reinforcement, the Ford 85-91.5 60 Front Truss skips the ram mount; finish the steering with a full-hydro tie rod kit, and see all our axle reinforcements.
Ford Dana 60 Front Ram Mount & Truss 1985-1991.5 FAQs
Which Ford axles will this fit?
It is designed for the 1985-1991.5 Ford kingpin front Dana 60, and Artec lists compatibility with 1992-1997 balljoint Dana 60s as well. The contour is optimized for 3" axle tubes and accommodates tubes up to 4". Later SuperDuty axles can work with modification, but 2005-and-up housings need substantial casting trimmed away.
What steering ram does the mount take?
Both PSC Motorsports and Howe Performance double-ended hydraulic rams fit. Because the mount is angled for Ford knuckles, the ram shaft and tie rod sit inline once the assembly is welded at the intended orientation. Pair it with a full-hydro tie rod kit to complete the front steering.
Can I install this without a welder?
No — the truss, gussets, bridge, and ram mount all weld to the housing, and this kit is intended for competent welders only. Fit and tack everything first, stitch-weld to manage heat, and let the axle cool slowly. It ships as bare steel, so plan on paint once fabrication is complete.
