Dana 44 Modular Rear Truss for Full-Size Jeep Wagoneer
The Artec Industries 44 Wagoneer Modular Rear Truss is a weld-on reinforcement for the Dana 44 rear axle under full-size Jeep Wagoneers. Big tires and a linked suspension will eventually bend a bare 44 housing; this 1/4" steel truss ties the tubes together across a 32.5" center span and gives you a flat, correctly positioned deck for upper link mounts. The modular part is the spring hardware: add-on leaf or coil perches bolt into the design, so the same truss works whether you keep leaf springs or convert to links and coils.
Features
- 1/4" mild steel plate throughout, CNC cut and bent in the USA
- Interlocked 1/4" gussets self-jig during assembly and stiffen the structure
- Spans 32.5" across the axle center to reinforce the tubes, not just the link area
- Sized for the Wagoneer Dana 44 rear with 2.75" diameter axle tubes
- Modular add-on leaf-spring or coil-spring perches match your suspension plan
- Low-profile top puts upper link joints about 8" from the axle centerline
- Can be rotated slightly on the housing to fine-tune pinion angle
Measure before you buy: this truss is proportioned for the Wagoneer rear 44 (roughly 18" driver-side and 20" passenger-side tube lengths) with 2.75" tubes, and it can sit off-center on earlier Dana 44s from other vehicles. It welds on, so stitch-weld rather than running continuous beads, and expect to trim gussets depending on pinion angle. Pair it with Truss Upper Link Mounts for a linked rear, add leaf spring perch plates for a sprung setup, or see the rest of our axle reinforcements.
Dana 44 Modular Rear Truss for Full-Size Jeep Wagoneer FAQs
Will this fit my Dana 44?
It is proportioned for the full-size Jeep Wagoneer rear Dana 44 — about 18" of tube on the driver side and 20" on the passenger side — with 2.75" diameter tubes and a 32.5" center span. It can install on earlier Dana 44s from other vehicles, but the truss may sit off-center on those housings. Measure your tube diameter and lengths before ordering.
Do I choose leaf springs or coils?
Either. The truss itself is suspension-agnostic; modular add-on perches for leaf springs or coil springs attach to it depending on how your rig is set up. That makes it a good fit both for keeping a leaf-sprung Wagoneer alive and for a full link-and-coil conversion.
What does installation involve?
This is a weld-on truss, so welding and fabrication experience are required. Fit and tack the interlocked gussets, then stitch-weld rather than laying continuous seams so the housing does not warp, and expect to trim gussets depending on your pinion angle. The steel ships bare — paint it once the welding is finished.
