GM 14 Bolt Truss and Pinion Guard Combo Kit (SRW)
The Artec 14 Bolt Combo Kit armors a GM 14-bolt single-rear-wheel axle from both directions in one purchase: the full 14 Bolt Rear Truss reinforces the tubes from above while the Pinion Guard with Bridge protects the low-hanging pinion nose from below. The 14-bolt is famously strong inside, but its housing still bends under big tires and its exposed pinion loves to find rocks — this kit addresses both. The 51-1/4" truss uses a 3/8" steel top with interlocked 1/4" gussets and a low profile that places upper-link joints about 8" from the axle centerline, and grade 8 hardware is included for the guard.
Features
- Bundles the SRW 14-bolt rear truss with the pinion guard and bridge
- 3/8" steel truss top; 1/4" steel gussets, CNC cut and bent
- Interlocked gussets self-locate for accurate weld-up
- Truss measures 51-1/4" long to span the SRW housing
- Low profile puts upper-link joints roughly 8" from the axle centerline
- Pinion guard shields the exposed nose and adds a bridged link mount
- 3/8" grade 8 hardware included; made in the USA
This kit is built for the single-rear-wheel GM 14-bolt full-float housing — Artec notes it was engineered around the 1999-2006 GM 10.5" SRW pattern, so verify your housing matches before ordering. Welding is required for the truss and gussets; expect real fabrication work and plan on paint or powder coat over the bare steel. Prefer to piece it together? The 14 Bolt Rear Truss (SRW) and Pinion Guard with Bridge are sold separately, and the 14 Bolt Modular Truss covers leaf-sprung and ribbed housings. Browse more in axle reinforcements.
GM 14 Bolt Truss and Pinion Guard Combo Kit (SRW) FAQs
Which 14-bolt housings does the combo kit fit?
It fits the GM 14-bolt 10.5" full-float rear axle in single-rear-wheel (SRW) configuration — Artec engineered it around the 1999-2006 GM SRW housing, and the truss measures 51-1/4" long. Verify you have the SRW full-float housing before ordering; dually and semi-float axles differ.
What do I gain over buying just the truss?
The combo adds the 14 Bolt Pinion Guard with Bridge, which protects the 14-bolt's notoriously low, exposed pinion nose from rock strikes and adds a bridged upper-link mounting point. Buying the truss and guard together armors the housing top and bottom in one order, and both pieces are also sold separately if you prefer.
How much fabrication does the install take?
Plan on a full weld-on job: the truss and gussets weld to the housing, and Artec flags the kit as involving extensive welding and general fabrication skills. The interlocking gussets hold alignment during tack-up and 3/8" grade 8 hardware is included. Once welded, clean the bare steel and finish it with paint or powder coat.
