M.O.R.E. Steering Brace - Jeep Cherokee XJ 1987-2001
Bigger tires and a front locker put a lot more force through the steering box than the factory planned for, and that force tries to pull the box right off the frame. A M.O.R.E. steering brace ties the power steering box to the passenger-side frame rail so the load gets shared instead of concentrated on the box mount.
This brace fits the 1987-2001 Jeep Cherokee XJ with power steering. It is a bolt-on part with all the mounting hardware included, and most installs need no drilling or modification. The brace is powder coated gray and the clamp is zinc plated.
One important note for XJ owners: this brace will not work with the factory passenger-side tow hook. The tow hook bracket covers the frame hole the brace needs. If you want to keep a front tow point on that side, plan on an aftermarket bumper or recovery point. It is also for power steering only.
Think of it as cheap insurance. A torn-off steering box is costly trail damage, and it rarely happens close to the trailhead. M.O.R.E. (Mountain Off-Road Enterprises) has been building Jeep parts in Delta, Colorado since 1978, when Chris Overacker started the company in his home garage. Parts are designed in 3D CAD, laser cut and welded in-house in the USA.
M.O.R.E. backs its parts with the RockProof Lifetime Warranty for the original retail purchaser, for as long as they own the vehicle, against product failure. Rubber, urethane and the finish are treated as wear items and are not covered, and neither is labor or shipping.
