Exterior Storage & Racks FAQs
Will a roof rack fit my 4Runner or Tacoma?
Yes, there are racks listed for both, but fitment depends on model year, generation and for Tacoma the cab style. Use the vehicle selector or read the fitment line on the listing, and call if your vehicle has a factory rack or sunroof that could interfere.
What is the difference between a roof rack and a bed rack?
A roof rack mounts to the cab roof and suits tents, awnings and long gear. A bed rack sits over the truck bed and keeps the roof free while still carrying gear, and it can leave bed space usable underneath. Many trucks end up with one or the other, rather than both.
How much weight can I put on a roof rack?
The limit is set by the lower of the rack's rating and your vehicle's roof load rating, which is in the owner's manual. The dynamic rating while driving is lower than the static rating while parked. Stay well under it, since weight up high affects handling.
Can I mount a rooftop tent on any rack?
Not every rack, and not every load bar spacing. Check the tent maker's requirements for load bar width and mounting hardware, and the rack's rated capacity with the tent's weight and sleepers. If the combination is unclear, call before you buy.
What is a Molle panel used for?
Molle panels are flat plates with a grid of slots that accept webbing-based pouches, bags and mounts. People use them to organize recovery gear, tools and bottles on a rack, bed side or canopy. They are a way to add storage without drilling more holes.
