ZJ 8.8 Swap Kit with Truss for Grand Cherokee (93-98)
The Artec ZJ 8.8 Swap Kit with Truss gives you every bracket needed to drop the popular Ford Explorer 8.8-inch rear axle under a 1993-1998 Jeep Grand Cherokee ZJ. Instead of buying and locating a dozen separate mounts, the brackets are jigged into a full-length axle truss so the factory link, track bar, sway bar, coil, and shock positions are set for you — turning a guess-and-measure fabrication job into a weld-on bolt-up.
Key Features
- 1/4" thick mild steel truss and brackets — far stronger than the factory Explorer brackets or thin aftermarket tabs
- Precision CNC-cut and bent components for consistent fitment
- Includes every bracket for the swap: upper and lower control arm mounts, shock mounts, sway bar mounts, track bar mount, and coil spring mounts
- Brackets are jigged into the truss so positions are set automatically — remaining brackets simply line up to the truss
- Track bar mount has both the factory location and a raised location for lifted ZJs
- Truss spans the axle tubes for reinforcement, and is easily upgradeable if you move to custom link geometry later
Fitment & Compatibility
Designed for swapping a Ford Explorer 8.8-inch rear axle into the Jeep Grand Cherokee ZJ (1993-1998). It reuses the ZJ's factory-style coil, link, sway bar, and track bar architecture, and supports both stock-height and lifted suspension setups thanks to the dual track bar locations. Welding and fabrication experience is required for install.

Frequently Asked Questions
What vehicle and axle is this kit for?
It is built specifically to swap a Ford Explorer 8.8-inch rear axle into a 1993-1998 Jeep Grand Cherokee ZJ.
Does installation require welding?
Yes. The truss and brackets weld to the axle housing. The jigged design sets bracket positions automatically, but a welder and fabrication skills are needed.
Will it work with a lift?
Yes. The track bar mount includes both the factory location and a raised bracket location for lifted ZJs.
Can I run custom links later?
Yes. The truss is designed so you can trim off the factory link locations and move to a custom link geometry down the road.
Do I still need a front axle solution?
This kit addresses the rear only. Many ZJ builders pair it with a matching front axle truss for TJ/LJ/ZJ to reinforce the front housing.
