The Artec APEX Rear Sterling Truss Swap Kit gives you everything you need to graft a Ford Super Duty Sterling 10.5 axle under the back of a Jeep Wrangler JL. It combines a peaked-top APEX axle truss with the full set of suspension brackets, so a heavy one-ton rear axle bolts into the JL's factory link, coil, sway bar and shock locations instead of forcing you to fabricate from scratch. It is the backbone of a build running 40s and hard rock crawling where the stock Dana axle simply is not enough.
Key Features
- CNC laser cut in-house from 1/4in and 3/16in mild steel for a strong, precisely repeatable truss
- Patent-pending peaked (non-flat) top design adds bending rigidity over the housing compared to a flat-plate truss
- Dimpled holes shed weight while stiffening the structure
- 3/16in truss deck sets link-mount geometry so the upper and lower link brackets align correctly
- Retains factory link, coil spring, anti-sway bar and shock mounting locations for a bolt-in suspension
- CNC-bent long seams cut welding by roughly 70% versus older multi-piece trusses, reducing heat warp
Fitment & Compatibility
Designed for the Jeep Wrangler JL (2018-present) when swapping in a Ford Super Duty Sterling 10.5 rear axle. This is a weld-on fabrication kit intended for a one-ton rear axle conversion, not a bolt-on lift accessory. Confirm your axle is the Sterling 10.5 (10.5in ring gear) before ordering, as the coil and link locations are specific to that housing.

Frequently Asked Questions
Which Jeep does this Sterling swap kit fit?
It is built for the 2018-and-newer Jeep Wrangler JL and is used to install a Ford Super Duty Sterling 10.5 rear axle.
Does this require welding?
Yes. The truss and brackets are weld-on parts. The truss is designed to drop onto the housing and be welded in place, and Artec recommends preheating the axle, alternating weld passes side to side, and letting the housing cool slowly to limit warping.
What is included versus what I still need?
The kit supplies the APEX truss, coil brackets, bump stop pads, shock brackets, and upper and lower control arm mounts. You still supply the Sterling axle, control arms, coils, shocks and gears.
Do I also need the Sterling short truss?
No. This kit already includes an APEX truss. The standalone Sterling Rear APEX Short Truss is for builders trussing a Sterling housing without the full bracket set.
Is there a matched front swap for the JL?
For a full one-ton package, pair this rear kit with a Super Duty front conversion such as the APEX Front Super Duty Swap Kit (2005+).
