The 7/8"-14 jam nut is the small piece that keeps a custom link or steering setup from ever backing off. Threaded onto a 7/8-inch rod end and snugged against an Artec threaded tube insert, it locks the rod end at your set length so trail vibration and articulation cannot wander your alignment. It is offered in both left-hand and right-hand thread so you can build a tie rod, drag link, or adjustable control arm that turns to length from a single joint.
Key Features
- Sized for 7/8-inch rod ends with a 14 threads-per-inch fine thread pitch
- Available in left-hand (reverse) and right-hand (standard) thread to match either end of an adjustable link
- Jams against a threaded tube insert to positively lock rod-end length and prevent loosening
- Fine-thread pitch allows precise length and alignment adjustment before locking
- A finishing piece for any DIY tie rod, drag link, or link-arm build
Fitment & Compatibility

Frequently Asked Questions
What size rod end does this jam nut fit?
It fits 7/8-inch rod ends with a 14 TPI fine thread, such as Artec's JMX PRO 7/8" rod ends used in steering and link kits.
Do I need the left-hand or the right-hand version?
Both, typically. A properly adjustable link uses one left-hand and one right-hand end so it can be turned to length without disconnecting. Match each jam nut to the thread hand of the 7/8"-14 tube adapter on that end.
Why do I need a jam nut at all?
Once you set link or tie-rod length, the jam nut is tightened against the tube insert to lock that adjustment. Without it, the rod end can rotate under load and change your alignment or link length.
Does this work with Artec 7/8" rod ends and tube inserts?
Yes. It is designed to pair with Artec's JMX PRO 7/8" rod ends and 7/8"-14 threaded tube adapters. For a 3/4" build, use the 3/4"-16 jam nut instead.
