The Model 35 is a common rear axle in older Jeeps, and its shallow OE cover is easy to dent or crack on a rock; this cover armors the ring gear and carrier so the axle survives harder trails.

Which axle does this fit?

What makes it stronger than the stock cover?
The factory cover is thin stamped steel that dents easily. This one is cast nodular iron with thick walls, so it shrugs off rock strikes that would deform the OE part.

How do I install and seal it?
Drain the old fluid, clean the mating surface, then bolt the cover on with the supplied high-strength fasteners using RTV or a reusable gasket. Torque the bolts evenly in a star pattern, then refill through the fill plug.

Do the magnetic plugs help?
Yes. The magnetic drain and fill plugs catch fine metal particles suspended in the gear oil, which keeps that debris out of the ring-and-pinion between services.
