The Artec Hardcore Diff Cover for the Dana 30 armors one of the most widely used Jeep front axles with a thick-wall nodular-iron casting. The Dana 30 carries an exposed cast housing up front, and its stock stamped cover is a common casualty on rocks; this cover shields the ring gear, carrier, and any front locker so the axle keeps working after a hard hit.
Key Features
- Cast from high-strength nodular iron with thick walls for real impact protection
- Durable powder-coat finish for corrosion resistance
- Magnetic drain plug traps metal shavings during gear-oil changes
- Magnetic fill plug for straightforward fluid service
- CNC-machined sealing surface and high-strength steel fasteners
- Made in the USA with a 1-year manufacturer defect warranty
Fitment & Compatibility
Fits the Dana 30 front differential, an axle used across many Jeep platforms including the TJ and LJ Wrangler, YJ Wrangler, XJ Cherokee, and ZJ Grand Cherokee. This is the classic cast Dana 30; note that the newer Jeep JL uses an M186-badged Dana 30, which has its own Artec Hardcore cover. If you are trussing a Dana 30 for larger tires, the Artec Front Axle Truss for TJ, LJ, ZJ reinforces the housing tubes.

Frequently Asked Questions
Which Dana 30 does this fit?
It fits the classic cast Dana 30 front differential used on the TJ/LJ, YJ, XJ, and ZJ. The Jeep JL's M186 Dana 30 is a different casting and uses the JL-specific Artec cover.
Why upgrade from the factory cover?
The stock cover is thin stamped steel that dents and can crack on impact, which risks leaks and gear damage. The nodular-iron Artec cover is far thicker and holds up to direct rock strikes.
How is it installed?
Drain the old fluid, clean the housing surface, then bolt on the cover with the supplied high-strength fasteners using RTV or a reusable gasket. Torque in a star pattern and refill through the fill plug. No welding required.
Does the magnetic plug actually help?
Yes. It captures fine metallic wear particles from the gear oil so they do not circulate through the ring-and-pinion, which is cheap insurance for the axle.
