F-150 lighting upgrades fall into a few buckets: replacement headlight and tail light assemblies, fog lights that drop into the factory pockets, ditch lights on the A-pillars, and the small stuff like the third brake light, bed lights and markers. This guide sorts what we carry by generation (2009–2014, 2015–2020 and 2021+), calls out Raptor-specific parts, and explains what to check before you order.

Short answer: Start by matching the year range in the product title to your truck, because F-150 headlights, tail lights and fog lights change between 2009–2014, 2015–2017, 2018–2020 and 2021+. Then check your factory setup (halogen or LED, BLIS, DRL) where the listing calls it out. For most owners we suggest headlights first, then tail lights, then fog and ditch lights.

How F-150 lighting is split by generation

Ford changed the F-150 front and rear end several times, and lighting assemblies follow those changes closely. A headlight for a 2017 truck will not fit a 2018, even though both are the same generation. That is why the products below are listed by year range, and why "f150 headlights" is not one part but several.

  • 2009–2014. Twelfth-generation trucks. The first-gen SVT Raptor (2010–2014) shares some parts, but many Raptor items are listed separately.
  • 2015–2020. Aluminum-body trucks. Headlights split into 2015–2017 and 2018–2020. Tail lights, ditch light brackets and some fog lights cover all six years. The second-gen Raptor runs 2017–2020.
  • 2021 and newer. Morimoto headlights and tail lights in our lineup are listed for 2021–2023. Ditch light systems are listed for 2021–2026, and third brake lights split into 2021–2023 and 2024–2026. The third-gen Raptor starts in 2021.

2009–2014 F-150 lighting upgrades

Headlights

Morimoto's top option is the XB Evo LED Headlights (2009–2014): dual Bi-LED projectors on Nichia LEDs, a lens heater for frost, and a swap key to set the DRL to white or amber and the turn signal to sequential or fade-off. The XB Evo Hybrid (2009–2014) uses the same Bi-LED projectors at a lower price point. If you want to do both ends at once, the 2009–2014 Headlight & Tail Light Combo bundles XB headlights with XB tails.

For the halo look, ORACLE sells complete pre-assembled halo headlights in a black housing, or a DIY white halo kit that installs inside your existing headlights.

Tail lights

The Morimoto XB LED tail lights come in red and smoked. Each side uses two clusters of 3D optics for brake and turn, a parking light optic and LED reverse lights. Both are listed as DOT and SAE compliant.

Fog lights

The Morimoto XB LED Fog Lights (2004–2014) are full replacement projector assemblies that use the original mounting points and include harnesses. The 4Banger LED Fog Lights (2009–2014) come in two SAE-compliant wide beam versions, in white or yellow. Baja Designs also lists a Squadron SAE fog pocket kit for 2006–2014 trucks.

Ditch lights

Morimoto offers the 2Banger and 4Banger ditch light systems for 2009–2014, both with vehicle-specific brackets. If you already have pods, the 2009–2014 ditch light brackets are sold alone, laser-cut from 304 stainless and powder coated.

Third brake light and the rest

The X3B LED Third Brake Light (2010–2014) adds quad red brake optics and a white bed light facing down into the box.

What to check: if you are swapping in OEM Bi-xenon headlights on a truck that came with H13 halogens, Morimoto's OEM HID Conversion Harness is the wiring for that job. Note that its listing says Morimoto specifies it for 2013–2014 trucks, even though the product title says 2009–2014.

2015–2020 F-150 lighting upgrades

Headlights: 2015–2017

Morimoto has four tiers for 2015–2017. The XB Evo adds a lens heater, white or amber DRL and sequential or fade-off signals. The XB Evo Hybrid keeps the dual Bi-LED projectors and drops the extras, and is listed as DOT compliant in standard form. The original XB LED headlight has quad projectors and comes with either sequential DRL or amber DRL. The XB Hybrid is the value entry. The 2015–2017 combo lets you pick any of those headlights and pair it with XB tails.

Going a different route: if you want genuine Ford OEM LED headlights on a truck that came with H11 halogens, the OEM LED Conversion Harness (2015–2017) handles the wiring without cutting the factory harness.

Headlights: 2018–2020

For the facelifted trucks, the XB LED Headlights (2018–2020) use four low-beam projectors plus a dual Bi-LED high beam and include amber side markers. The XB Hybrid (2018–2020) is the lower-cost option, and the 2018–2020 combo covers both ends. If you want the front end to match, Morimoto also makes the XBG LED DRL Grille with Osram DRL bars built in.

Tail lights

This is the easy one. Morimoto's XB LED tail lights in red and smoked are listed to fit every 2015–2020 configuration: OE halogen, OE halogen with BLIS, OE LED with BLIS and Raptor-style, and to work with the stock radar system. ORACLE's flush-mount LED tail lights sit nearly flush with the body and add sequential turn signals.

Fog lights

For 2015–2020 there is a lot to choose from. The XB LED Fog Lights (2015–2020) replace the halogen units with projector assemblies and include an optional yellow film kit. The XB Evo+ fogs for 2015–2017 and 2018–2020 switch between white and yellow; Morimoto lists the 2015–2017 version as compliant with SAE J583 F3 and ECE R19, and the 2018–2020 version as meeting current North American and European safety standards. The 4Banger fog kit puts pods in the factory opening on dedicated brackets. For more output, the Baja Designs Squadron 2.0 Sport fog pocket kit fits 2015–2020.

What to check: the Baja Designs 2015–2020 fog pocket kit is listed for trucks with OEM halogen-style fog lights and will not work with the OEM-style LED fog light strip. Look at your bumper before you order.

Ditch lights

Morimoto's 2Banger and 4Banger systems for 2015–2020 bolt to the existing A-pillar mounting points. The stand-alone 2015–2020 brackets also take pods from several other brands. KC HiLiTES makes a pillar bracket set for 2015–2020 F-150 and 2017–2020 Raptor; its listing notes the brackets may lightly crease the trim. ORACLE's mirror-mount ditch lights skip the A-pillar entirely.

Third brake light, bed lights and more

The X3B third brake light comes in 2015–2017 and 2018–2020 versions. The 2015–2017 X3B is made in two versions, one for trucks with a reverse camera and one without, so check which you have. For loading gear at night, the XB LED Bed Lights replace the factory cargo lights. Baja Designs also lists an S2 Sport dual reverse light kit for 2015–2021 that mounts below the rear bumper.

2021+ F-150 lighting upgrades

Headlights

For 2021–2023 trucks, the XB Evo LED Headlights use Morimoto's Tri-Beam setup: an Ishida Type 1 Bi-LED projector with low and high beam reflector assists, plus heated lenses. The XB Evo Hybrid uses the same Tri-Beam output and is listed as DOT compliant in standard form. The 2021–2023 combo pairs XB headlights with XB tails.

Our Morimoto headlight listings stop at 2023. If you have a 2024 or newer truck, contact us before ordering a headlight.

Tail lights

Morimoto's 2021–2023 XB tail lights come in red and smoked and are listed to fit trucks with OE LED tails with BLIS, incandescent lamps or a BLIS-equipped setup. ORACLE's flush-mount LED tail lights are listed for 2021–2025.

Fog lights

On 2021–2023 trucks, Baja Designs splits its fog pocket kits by whether the truck has daytime running lights. For example, the Squadron SAE/Sport kit comes in a with-DRL version and a without-DRL version. Each pairs SAE J583 fog lights with a set of Driving/Combo lights.

Ditch lights

Morimoto lists three ditch light systems for 2021–2026: the 2Banger, the 4Banger and the full-size BigBanger, plus brackets on their own. The KC HiLiTES A-pillar kit has bracket options for 2015–2020 and 2021–2024 and covers the 2022–2024 F-150 Lightning. Baja Designs offers Squadron Sport and Pro A-pillar kits for 2021–2023. ORACLE's mirror ditch lights are listed for 2021–2025.

Third brake light, light bars and more

The X3B third brake light comes in 2021–2023 and 2024–2026 versions. If your truck has the factory 802A modular bumper, KC HiLiTES makes a FLEX ERA 40-inch bumper light bar kit that bolts to factory mounting locations below the headlights. For overhead light, the Gravity Titan overhead kit fits 2015–2026 but requires drilling, and KC recommends a professional install.

Raptor-specific lighting

Raptors share some parts with the standard F-150, but many headlights, ditch kits and fog pocket kits are listed separately. Always confirm the Raptor generation in the title.

What to check before you order

  • The year range in the title. This matters more than anything else. 2015–2017 and 2018–2020 headlights are different parts, and several 2021+ items stop at 2023.
  • Standard F-150 or Raptor. Many Raptor parts are separate listings. A few parts, like the 2015–2020 and 2017–2020 Raptor tail lights, are listed to cover both.
  • Factory halogen or LED. Only matters where the listing says so: the OEM conversion harnesses, the Baja Designs 2015–2020 fog pocket kit (halogen-style fogs only), and the tail lights that list the factory setups they fit.
  • BLIS, DRL and cameras. Tail light listings name BLIS configurations. Baja Designs 2021–2023 fog kits split by DRL. The 2015–2017 X3B comes in versions with and without a reverse camera.
  • Street use vs off-road. Supercharged headlight drivers are off-road only. Light bars and most auxiliary pods are for off-road use. Rules vary by state; check yours.
  • Bumper and trim. KC bumper bar kits are for the 802A modular bumper. Overhead bars may need drilling.

Our suggested upgrade order

This is our opinion, based on what makes the biggest difference for most truck owners.

  • 1. Headlights. You use them every night. Going from factory halogen to an LED projector assembly is the most noticeable change. Our LED vs halogen headlights guide covers the differences.
  • 2. Tail lights and third brake light. Better visibility to the people behind you, brighter reverse lights, and the X3B lights up the bed too.
  • 3. Fog lights. Useful in bad weather. Read the yellow vs white fog light guide before choosing a color.
  • 4. Ditch lights. The trail-focused upgrade for lighting the edges. See our spot vs flood ditch light guide to pick a beam.
  • 5. Light bars, bed lights, markers. Finish the job once the main lights are done.

Frequently asked questions

Will LED headlights fit my halogen F-150?

It depends on the assembly and the year. Morimoto's XB and XB Evo assemblies for the F-150 are complete headlights that plug into the factory wiring according to their listings, though the 2021–2023 XB listing notes that trucks with OEM reflector-LED headlights need the optional LF498H adapter harness. The 2010–2014 SVT Raptor XB Evo Hybrid ships with adapters for both halogen and HID inputs. If you want to run genuine Ford OEM LED headlights on a 2015–2017 truck that came with halogens, that is what the Morimoto OEM LED Conversion Harness is for.

What tail lights fit a 2015–2020 F-150?

Morimoto's XB LED tail lights for 2015–2020 are listed to fit every configuration from those years: OE halogen, OE halogen with BLIS, OE LED with BLIS and Raptor-style. ORACLE also makes a flush-mount LED tail light with sequential turn signals for 2015–2020.

Are aftermarket F-150 LED headlights street legal?

Several of the Morimoto assemblies we carry are listed as DOT compliant in standard form. The optional Supercharged Drivers that raise output 30–50% are listed as off-road only. Lighting rules vary by state, so check yours before you run anything brighter than stock on the road.

Do F-150 ditch lights need drilling?

The Morimoto ditch light brackets for 2009–2014, 2015–2020 and 2021–2026 bolt to existing A-pillar mounting points with no modifications to the truck, per their listings. The KC HiLiTES 2015–2020 bracket set uses factory hardware but can lightly crease the trim. Mirror-mount ditch lights from ORACLE are another no-A-pillar option.

Spot or flood for F-150 ditch lights?

Most people want a wide or combo pattern on the A-pillars, because the job is lighting the shoulders and trail edges your headlights miss. Spot makes sense if you drive fast on open roads or two-track. Our ditch lights spot vs flood guide goes deeper.

Should I get white or yellow fog lights for my F-150?

White is the better all-around choice on clear nights, and yellow is easier on the eyes in snow, dust and rain. Morimoto's XB Evo+ fog lights for 2015–2017 and 2018–2020 switch between white and yellow, so you don't have to choose.

Which F-150 lighting mod should I do first?

Headlights, in our opinion. They are the light you use every night, and the jump from factory halogen to a good LED projector assembly is the biggest change you will notice. Tail lights and the third brake light are next, then fogs and ditch lights.

Do you carry headlights for the 2024+ F-150?

Not in the lineup this guide covers. For 2024–2026 trucks we carry ditch light systems and brackets, a third brake light, ORACLE flush tail lights (2021–2025) and Raptor-specific Baja Designs kits. Call or message us and we will check what is available for your exact truck.
