Lexus GX 460 and GX 550 Accessories: Ladders, Racks, Bumpers and Lighting
The Lexus GX has turned into one of the most popular overland platforms around, and the aftermarket has caught up. The two generations most people are building now are the GX 460 (2010-2023) and the GX 550 (2024 and newer), and they don't share most exterior parts. This guide covers GX 460 and GX 550 accessories by category: rear ladders, roof racks, front and rear bumpers, rock sliders, skid plates and lighting. Fitment below is only what each product listing states, so match your exact year before you order.
Short answer: Start by confirming your generation, because GX 460 and GX 550 parts are not interchangeable. For most GX builds the order is roof rack and ladder first, then sliders and skid plates, then a bumper if you want a winch. Prinsu, RCI, KC HiLiTES, Rago Fabrication, CBI Offroad Fab, C4 Fabrication and DV8 Offroad all make GX-specific parts we carry, and most racks bolt to the factory roof mounting points with no drilling, per the brands.
GX 460 vs GX 550: which parts fit which?
The GX 460 covers the 2010 through 2023 model years. The GX 550 arrived for 2024 on an all-new platform shared with the 250 Series Toyota Land Cruiser, which is why many GX 550 parts are listed for both. The older GX 470 (2003-2009) has its own parts again.

Lexus GX rear ladders
A ladder matters once there's a rack, a rooftop tent or gear up top. Prinsu Design Studio makes model-specific rear ladders for both generations: the Prinsu GX460 Ladder and the Prinsu GX550 Ladder. The listings are light on mounting details, so check the product page or call us before you order.
Prinsu also sells a ladder accessory panel for each: the GX 460 Ladder Accessory Panel and the GX 550 Ladder Accessory Panel. Per Prinsu, each replaces a section of rungs with a laser-cut, powder-coated aluminum panel that bolts to the Prinsu ladder with the side-rail hardware, gives you a mount for a RotoPax pack, and includes bolt-on steps so the ladder stays climbable.
Lexus GX roof racks
GX 460 roof racks
- RCI Ascent Full Length Roof Rack: 1/4 in. 5052 aluminum side panels, black anodized T-slot cross bars. RCI says it bolts to the existing roof rack mounting holes, sits 3 inches above the highest point of the truck (not counting the antenna) and doesn't require removing the antenna.
- RCI Horizon Full Length Roof Rack: aluminum panels with removable 12 gauge slotted steel cross bars. RCI lists it at 54 lbs.
- KC HiLiTES Platform One Roof Rack: KC says the deck sits a maximum of 3.75 inches above the roof, bolts to the factory roof mounting points with no drilling, and has internal wire channels for lights. The Platform One with 360° Lighting bundles a 50-inch Gravity Titan light bar and side lights.
- Prinsu Pro GX460 Roof Rack and the standard Prinsu GX460 Roof Rack, which pair with the Prinsu ladder. Check the product pages for mounting details.
GX 550 roof racks
- Prinsu Pro Roof Rack: powder-coated aluminum with stainless hardware. Prinsu rates it at 700 lbs dynamic and 1,200 lbs static and says no drilling is required. Choose a standard wind deflector or a 40-inch light bar cutout.
- Rago Fabrication Roof Rack: nine aluminum crossmembers and double-walled side panels, with a rubber edge on the front fairing to seal against the roof, per Rago.
- DV8 Offroad Spec Series Roof Rack: nine 80/20 T-slot bars, steel feet and removable rear fins for flush tent and awning mounting. DV8 says the factory sunroof and antenna are retained.
- C4 Fabrication Roof Rack: C4 says it adds only 1/4 inch above the factory antenna and stays compatible with the factory sunroof.
- KC HiLiTES Platform One for GX 550 and the ARB BASE Rack kit. ARB notes its kit does not suit models with the optional moon roof.
Sunroof and moon roof compatibility is one of the easiest things to get wrong on a GX 550 rack, so read that line on each listing.
Lexus GX bumpers
GX 460 front bumper
The CBI Offroad Fab GX460 Front Bumper has built-in recovery points and an integrated winch mount, and follows the factory body lines. It is listed for 2014-2022; CBI's specs also mention 2023, so call us to confirm on a 2023. Cutting is required, and CBI doesn't list winch capacity, so ask before you commit.
GX 550 front bumpers
The Rago Fabrication Winch Front Bumper has a concealed winch mount, dual 1-inch CNC-machined clevis mounts for 3/4-inch D-rings, a center mount for a 30-inch light bar and side mounts for 10-inch bars. Rago says it retains Lexus Safety System, the OEM parking sensors and factory driver assist features. Install is bolt-on with minor trimming and riv-nut installation, and Rago offers a matching front skid plate. CBI also makes a GX550 Front Bumper; check the product page for install details.
If you want to keep the factory bumper, ICON's GX550 Front Bumper Fascia Kit ties the OE plastic bumper to the ICON Impact front skid plate. ICON lists it as bolt-on.
GX 550 rear bumpers
Rago offers two: the Full-Width Rear Bumper, which requires trimming and opens up the rear wheel well, and the Center Mount Rear Bumper, which Rago says keeps the factory hitch receiver. Both retain OEM parking sensors and blind spot monitoring and take two Baja Designs S2 or Rigid SRM lights, per Rago. CBI also makes a GX550 Rear Bumper.
Lexus GX rock sliders
The rocker panel is the first body panel to take a hit on a tight trail, and on a GX it's not a cheap fix. Our rock sliders buying guide covers frame-mount vs body-mount and kick-out angles.
- RCI Rock Sliders for GX 460: mount through a full-length 1/4 in. frame plate with up to 15 mounting points per side, replace the factory side steps, and use a 2 in. square main tube with 1.75 in. DOM outer rails. Choose a 20 or 5 degree angle and an optional tread plate.

- CBI GX550 Standard Overland Rock Sliders and GX550 Overland Kickout Rock Sliders. The CBI listings are short on construction detail, so check the product page or call us.
Lexus GX skid plates
Factory GX underbody protection is light. For the GX 460, the RCI Skid Plate Package includes engine, transmission and transfer-case skids plus the transfer-case cross-member, in 3/16 in. steel or 1/4 in. aluminum, with oil drain holes and a differential drop cage, per RCI. It bolts to factory attachment points with no drilling, and the transmission plate is matched to the engine, so pick the engine option listed for your truck. The C4 Fabrication GX460 Full Skid Plates cover engine, transmission and transfer case in 3/16 in. steel; C4 says the system is KDSS compatible and weighs 136 lbs. RCI also makes KDSS A-arm skids for GX 460 trucks with or without KDSS.
For the GX 550, CBI's Lower Control Arm Skids cover the lower control arm and lower shock mount in one low-profile piece, and the Cali Raised LED Catalytic Converter Shield is 12 gauge 304 stainless covering both sides.

Ditch lights and A-pillar mounts
For the GX 460, the Rago GX 460 Ditch Light Brackets attach to the hood hinge bracket with minimal wiper cowl trimming and no drilling, per Rago. Cali Raised LED offers low-profile ditch light brackets and a kit with pods and harness. For the GX 550, there are Rago A-Pillar Light Mounts for pods up to 6 inches and CBI ditch light brackets. Headlights and tail lights
AlphaRex's NOVA-Series LED Projector Headlights bring the 2020 GX look to 2014-2023 GX 460s. AlphaRex says 2014-2019 trucks are direct fit, 2020-2023 trucks need the converter harness, and they are not compatible with AFS headlights. What ladder fits a Lexus GX 460?
Prinsu Design Studio makes a GX460 Ladder for the 2010-2023 GX 460 and a separate GX550 Ladder for the GX 550. Prinsu also sells a ladder accessory panel for each that adds a RotoPax mount and keeps the ladder climbable with bolt-on steps.
Do I need to drill to install a GX roof rack?
Most GX racks we carry do not require drilling. RCI says its GX 460 racks use the existing roof rack mounting holes, KC says its Platform One bolts to the factory roof mounting points, and Prinsu and C4 list their GX 550 racks as no-drill.
Will a roof rack work with my GX 550 sunroof?
It depends on the rack. DV8 says its Spec Series rack retains the factory sunroof, and C4 says its rack is compatible with the factory sunroof. ARB notes its BASE Rack kit does not suit models with the optional moon roof. Check each listing.
