Toyota Tundra Front Bumper Guide by Generation

A front bumper is often the first armor Tundra owners buy: it adds a winch mount, recovery points and a place for real lights. The hard part is fitment, with three generations, a 2014 refresh, and newer front ends full of sensors, a camera and an active air dam. This guide sorts the front bumpers we carry by generation and explains what each maker says about winches, lights, Toyota Safety Sense (TSS) and cutting.

Short answer: Match model year and trim first, decide on a winch, then check what the bumper does to TSS, parking sensors, the camera and fog lights. For 2022+ trucks, the Addictive Desert Designs Stealth Center Mount is a good place to start: ADD lists it as bolt-on, keeping adaptive cruise, the camera and parking sensors, with a winch kit sold separately. For 2014-2021 trucks, RCI, C4 Fabrication, DV8 and ADD all list winch-ready plate bumpers. For 2007-2013, look at the ARB Deluxe and the C4 Fabrication Hybrid and Overland bumpers.

Front bumper styles for the Tundra

Most Tundra bumpers fall into four styles.

Full plate winch bumpers replace the whole factory bumper with a steel face and a built-in winch mount, like the ARB Deluxe, RCI Arapaho and Gunnison, and C4 Overland Series.
Hybrid plate and tube bumpers use a plate center for the winch and tube sides to save weight, as C4 Fabrication describes its Hybrid line.
Low-profile and hidden winch bumpers follow the factory body lines and tuck the winch behind the face: ADD Stealth Center Mount and Stealth Fighter, DV8 Centric and MTO, Rago Center Mount and Backwoods Adventure Mods. C4's Lo-Pro is a low-profile plate bumper, and CBI Offroad Fab calls its version Covert.
Tube and prerunner bumpers, like the DV8 Tube Front Bumper, are built around clearance and lighting.

Listed weights run from 58 lb for the Backwoods two-piece bumper up to 182 lb for the C4 Overland Series with the full bull bar. A heavy bumper plus a winch loads the front axle, so plan suspension with our Tundra lift kit guide.

2000-2006 (1st gen)

We do not currently list a steel replacement front bumper for the 1st gen Tundra. The closest front-end part we carry is the CBI Offroad Fab Toyota Tundra Ditch Light Brackets | 2000-2006. If you need a 1st gen bumper, call us and we will ask our vendors what is available.

2007-2013 (2nd gen)

The ARB Deluxe Bumper - Toyota Tundra 2007-2013 replaces the factory bumper with ARB's own mounting system. ARB lists steel with black powder coat, underbody protection panels, twin Hi-Lift jacking points, OE fog light fit and most electric low-mount winches up to 16,500 lb. Per ARB, 2010+ trucks with Millennium or Limited grilles may need extra modification, it does not fit the Rock Warrior, and a hawse fairlead needs spacer kit 3500600, not included.

C4 Fabrication lists both a Hybrid and an Overland Series bumper for these years. The C4 Fabrication Tundra Hybrid Front Bumper / 2nd Gen / 2007-2013 pairs a 3/16 inch plate steel center with tube sides, takes most 8k-12k winches and a 30 inch single row bar, and is pre-drilled for LP9 or LP6 lights. The C4 Fabrication Tundra Overland Series Front Bumper / 2nd Gen / 2007-2013 adds OEM parking sensor provisions. For the Hybrid, trucks with fiberglass wide fenders need C4's wide-fender version. C4 says raw bumpers must be painted or coated before install.

The RCI Arapaho Series Front Bumper - 2007-2021 Toyota Tundra is titled 2007-2021, but RCI says it is only compatible with the SR5 on 2007-2013 trucks.

2014-2021 (2nd gen refresh)

RCI calls the RCI Gunnison Series Front Bumper - 2014-2021 Toyota Tundra its heavier-duty option for this generation, with a frame-tied winch plate for up to 12,000 lb and a bolt-on install with no drilling or welding. The ADD 2014-2021 Toyota Tundra Stealth Fighter Winch Front Bumper has a winch mount, room for up to a 40 inch radius bar or 10 cubes, optional parking sensor cutouts, and a fully bolt-on install.

DV8 lists two options. The DV8 2014-2021 Toyota Tundra Spec Series Front Bumper accepts standard-size heavy-duty winches and carries a 20 inch bar plus up to four 3 inch pods. The DV8 2014-2021 Toyota Tundra Tube Front Bumper is a desert-style tube bumper with an optional push bar. The Fishbone Offroad Front Winch Bumper for 2014-2021 Toyota Tundra FB22392 has a 10 x 4.5 inch winch pattern; Fishbone says it works with all OE sensors and needs fender liner trimming.

C4 Fabrication offers the C4 Overland Series Front Bumper / 2014-2021 and the Hybrid in standard and wide-fender versions. CBI Offroad Fab lists several 2014-2021 bumpers, including the Toyota Tundra Covert Front Bumper | 2014-2021, Baja, Baja Hybrid, Classic and Adventure Series. Those listings carry no specs beyond the title, so ask us for winch, sensor and lighting details.

2022+ (3rd gen)

ADD lists four 3rd gen bumpers. The ADD 2022-2026 Toyota Tundra Stealth Center Mount Front Bumper keeps adaptive cruise, the front camera and parking sensors per ADD, installs fully bolt-on, and takes a 20 inch bar. ADD sells the Stealth Center Mount winch kit separately for up to a WARN Evo. The ADD 2022-2026 Toyota Tundra Black Label Front Bumper is a three-piece plate steel bumper that keeps TSS, the parking sensors and the factory fog lights, but trimming is required. The ADD 2022-2026 Toyota Tundra Stealth Fighter Winch Front Bumper mounts a concealed winch plate between the frame rails.

RCI lists three 3rd gen bumpers. The RCI Arapaho Series Front Bumper - 2022+ Toyota Tundra and Gunnison take winches up to 12,000 lb and work with the OEM sensors and adaptive cruise sensor; RCI confirmed fit on a 2022 TRD Off-Road and an SR5 with the TRD Pro grille. The lighter RCI Pike Front Bumper - 2022+ Toyota Tundra has an air dam caveat covered below.

For a hidden winch and a factory-style look, the DV8 2022-2026 Toyota Tundra Centric Series Front Bumper is listed for all trims and keeps adaptive cruise, parking sensors and factory skids. The DV8 MTO Series Winch Front Bumper adds clearance but excludes TRD Pro and Hybrid models. The Rago 2022+ Toyota Tundra Center Mount Winch Front Bumper retains the camera, parking sensors and TSS per Rago, but excludes TRD Pro, Hybrid, Capstone and several i-FORCE MAX trims. The Backwoods Adventure Mods Tundra Front Bumper 3rd Gen (2022-2026) is an aluminum shell over a steel cradle that hides up to a 12K Warn-size winch.

C4 Fabrication lists the C4 Overland Series Front Bumper / 3rd Gen, Hybrid Series and C4 Lo-Pro Winch Bumper / 3rd Gen, all described as keeping TSS, parking sensors and the front camera. The Overland title says 2022+ but its description says 2022-2025, so confirm your year. CBI Offroad Fab also lists 3rd gen Baja, Adventure (2022-2023 only), Covert, Covert Baja and Dakar bumpers.

Winch fitment: what to check

Winch-ready does not mean any winch fits. Check:

Rated size. Each maker lists a range; see the FAQ below.
Control box. On its 2007-2013 Hybrid, C4 recommends a relocatable control box; it says its 3rd gen Hybrid does not fit the Smitty XRC 12k.
Fairlead. DV8 says the Centric and MTO do not take roller fairleads, and C4 says some rollers may not fit.
Hybrid trucks. ADD says its Stealth Center Mount winch plate is not compatible with Tundra Hybrid models.

Lights, sensors, TSS and the front camera

Per AJT, the TSS sensor on 2018-2021 Tundras sits behind the front emblem, so hoop height matters:

On 2014-2021 C4 bumpers, the mid-height bull bar works with TSS on all models; the full-height bar only with TRD Pro grilles.
RCI says the Arapaho short hoop works with adaptive cruise on non-TRD Pro grilles, and the Gunnison mid hoop on TRD Pro grilles and other emblem-ACC trucks.
On 3rd gen trucks, ADD says the Stealth Center Mount Front Bumper w/ Top Hoop does not keep TSS or adaptive cruise, and the hoop blocks the front camera.
C4 says its 3rd gen bull bars all work with TSS, low and mid bars may show in the camera view, and a TSS recalibration may be needed.

Fog lights split too: ADD keeps factory fogs on the Black Label and Stealth Fighter, while DV8 says they do not carry over on the MTO and C4 says they cannot be reused on its 3rd gen Hybrid. If you are keeping the factory bumper for now, the Diode Dynamics Stealth Bumper Lightbar Kit for 2022-2026 Toyota Tundra and the Cali Raised LED 32" lower bumper light bar brackets for 2014-2021 add a bar to the stock bumper. For 2018-2021 grille swaps, the AJT Design TSS Relocation Bracket relocates the TSS sensor behind the grille.

Cutting, trimming and the 3rd gen air dam

On 3rd gen trucks, trimming is common. DV8 estimates about 3.5 hours for the Centric, with the center bumper cover cut, and 4-6 hours with a helper for the MTO. C4 trims bumper panels and fender flare ends on the Overland and Hybrid. Rago says cutting is required, and Backwoods lists minimal cutting.

The active front air dam, or spoiler, is the other 3rd gen issue. RCI says installing the Pike means removing the air dam module, which leaves a persistent dash error, and relocating the module onto the winch plate prevents effective winch use on air dam trucks. CBI says its Toyota Tundra Front Active Spoiler Delete Module | 2022-2026 talks to the ECU so the spoiler can come off without error codes.

Frequently asked questions

Will an aftermarket front bumper break Toyota Safety Sense on my Tundra?

It depends on the bumper and hoop. ADD, RCI and C4 Fabrication list TSS or adaptive cruise as retained on several 3rd gen bumpers, but ADD says its Top Hoop version does not keep TSS or adaptive cruise. On 2014-2021 trucks, C4 and RCI tie TSS compatibility to hoop height and grille type.

Do I need to cut my truck to install a Tundra front bumper?

Often on 3rd gen trucks. ADD lists trimming for the Black Label, RCI says the OEM plastic bumper must be trimmed on its 2022+ bumpers, and DV8 trims the grille, bumper and fenders for the MTO. The ADD Stealth Center Mount is listed as fully bolt-on, and RCI lists its 2014-2021 Gunnison as bolt-on with no drilling or welding.

Which Tundra front bumpers fit the TRD Pro?

Check each listing. ADD says TRD Pro trucks do not need its Hybrid Active Front Spoiler Delete. DV8 lists the MTO Series and Rago lists its Center Mount bumper as not compatible with TRD Pro. On 2014-2021 trucks, C4 and RCI note which hoop heights keep TSS working with TRD Pro grilles.

What size winch fits a Tundra front bumper?

It varies by bumper. ARB lists most electric low-mount winches up to 16,500 lb for its 2007-2013 Deluxe. RCI lists up to 12,000 lb for the Arapaho and Gunnison and up to 10,000 lb for the Pike. C4 Fabrication lists most 8k-12k winches, and ADD sizes its Stealth Center Mount winch kit for up to a WARN Evo. C4 recommends synthetic rope with a hawse fairlead, DV8 says its Centric and MTO do not take rollers, and C4 says some rollers may not fit.

Does a Tundra Hybrid need anything extra for a new front bumper?

Often, yes. ADD says Hybrid trims need its Hybrid Active Front Spoiler Delete, and its winch plate and skid plate do not fit Hybrid models. DV8 says Hybrid trucks need an aftermarket air dam delete module for the Centric and excludes them from the MTO. Rago lists its center mount bumper as not compatible with Hybrids.

Do you carry front bumpers for the 2000-2006 Tundra?

Not right now. We do not list a steel replacement front bumper for the 1st gen Tundra, but we carry CBI Offroad Fab ditch light brackets for 2000-2006 trucks and can check with vendors for a bumper.
